Description
The Director of Student Accounts is responsible for the overall supervision and operation of the Office of Student Accounts. The Director will provide day-to-day direction, evaluate, train and lead staff.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manages and coordinates all Student Account operations including but not limited to: tuition payment control, collection monitoring and placement, refunding, waivers/exemptions, 1098-Ts, and third-party billings.
  2. Plan, design and implement procedures and schedules leading to efficient and effective operations that ensure compliance and smoothly integrated transactional activities with Accounting/Finance, Student Success, and Enrollment Management.
  3. Ensure timely preparation, coordination and posting of all financial aid transmittals, reconciliation to the general ledger and financial aid records and timely drawdown of all federal and state funds.
  4. Liaison to all areas in Student Success and Enrollment Management.
  1. Ensure the College is operating within prescribed federal, state, and local governmental guidelines.
  2. Reconciles transactional data from various applications to Student Information System and the G/L, providing information to appropriate stakeholders.
  3. Researching, troubleshoot, and process adjustments as required.
  4. Stay current with regulatory changes and applicable trends within higher education.
  5. Maintain effective relationships with the College community.
  6. Supervises the Office of Student Accounts personnel to ensure all responsibilities are completed timely and accurately. Evaluates staff and provides any necessary follow up.
  7. Assist or handle special projects as assigned.
  8. Perform all other duties as assigned.

OVERALL PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITY:
The primary and most important overall responsibility of all employees is to provide service in a pleasant, helpful, and effective manner to our students and other members of the College community.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Required:
Bachelor's degree required, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration emphasis preferred.
Experience Required:
  1. Minimum of five (5) years' experience in student billing and/or accounting with minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience.
  2. Previous experience in College or University accounting and/or student accounts preferred.

Skills/Abilities /Knowledge /Other Requirements
  1. Extensive working knowledge of computerized billing and/or student-related applications.
  2. Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
  3. Ability to organize, prioritize tasks, take initiative, and meet deadlines.
  4. Excellent analytical skills and experience in detailed accounting transactions, processes, and systems.
  5. Demonstrates strong supervisory, management, and leadership skills.
  6. Ability to communicate and interact effectively at levels of the organization.
  7. Dynamic problem-solving skills with the ability to handle difficult and complex issues.

Additional Information
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS:
Collaborates with department members and/or the Compliance, Assessment and Research team to support planning, assessment, data collection and reporting for continuous improvement of the college.
