Job Summary:

The Director–Strategic Pursuits (DSP) is responsible to aid the VP-Strategic Relations in the development and growth of Industrial, Port, and Shortline private clients. The DSP shall be tasked with performing significant research, conducting significant outreach, and investing significant time and energy to identifying qualified leads, assembling internal teams to meet a client’s needs, confirming service offerings meet client needs, and communicating with the client to assure client satisfaction. The DSP will play the primary role in nurturing relationships with Class 1 and Short Line Industrial Development teams across the entire RailPros network. The DSP will focus on promoting our service offerings to Class 1, Short Line and other private clients in the engineering services, public project management, real estate support, industrial development (Concept Design), and utility management disciplines. The DSP will be astute in cross selling all service lines. This position also acts as the primary liaison and coordinator between the RailPros Project Management Office (PMO) and the project (opportunity) leaders of the industrial, port, and/or short line clients.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Vice President in the development, execution, and maintenance of market-focused business plans for assigned Industry, Port, and Short Line accounts, supporting growth initiatives, client engagement strategies, and expansion of RailPros' service offerings
  • Support the Vice President in identifying, developing, and strengthening strategic client relationships with key decision-makers and industry stakeholders, helping position RailPros as a trusted partner within target markets
  • Assist the Vice President in advancing service excellence initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance the client experience
  • Support revenue growth efforts within assigned accounts by identifying client needs, tracking opportunities, and collaborating with internal stakeholders
  • Serve as a liaison between clients and RailPros teams, facilitating effective communication, coordinating resources, and supporting the successful execution of client-focused initiatives
  • Support the preparation and delivery of client-facing presentations and marketing materials, effectively communicating RailPros' capabilities, value proposition, and service offerings
  • Support business development and relationship-building initiatives through active participation in industry associations, conferences, and networking events, helping strengthen RailPros' market presence and identify new opportunities
  • Routine travel is expected for this position (up to 60%)

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Established relationships with management-level peers at Class 1, Industrial, Port, and Short Line clients with primary focus on the Engineering, Operations, and Procurement functions
  • Deep understanding of Class 1 and Short Line Industrial/Economic Development procedures and policies so as to position RailPros as the market leader in engineering and project management service offerings
  • Comprehensive understanding of the process, procedure, resource need, and timing across all Class 1 and Short Line Holding Companies for projects where Industries, Ports, and/or Short lines are involved
  • Comprehensive understanding of railroad projects where the RailPros scope, fee, timing, and complexity are all key components of the RailPros service offering
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Must be proficient in the use of computers and email and other software commonly employed to develop presentations and promotional materials
  • Proven ability to exercise discretion in the handling of sensitive and/or confidential materials and information
  • Strong skills in presenting and delivering new concepts and methods
  • Highly social and/or outgoing personality that demonstrates confidence and enlists trust from the external clients whether through face to face or virtual communication

Required Education and Experience:

  • At least 10 years of direct work experience working in the Class 1 or Short Line railroad landscape
