Join Orange EV , a fast-growing manufacturer of electric vehicles that are better for the earth, people and the bottom line. Make a difference for the world as part of a company leading the electric vehicle revolution.

Job Description

The Director of Global Sourcing is responsible for leading Orange EV’s overall sourcing strategy. This role negotiates high-level supplier contracts, drives cost savings by systematically analyzing expenditures, restructuring supplier agreements, and optimizing the design and delivery of production materials, and drives supply chain efficiency by developing strategic supplier networks, negotiating favorable commercial terms, and mitigating material risks. This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer.

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute 3-to-5-year sourcing strategies to support manufacturing capacity and long-term business goals.
  • Lead complex negotiations for high-value spend categories, utilizing cost-breakdown analysis to secure favorable terms and EBITDA goals.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with critical vendors, packagers, and contract manufacturers to optimize quality and delivery times.
  • Evaluate expenses beyond the initial purchase price, including shipping, tariffs, inventory holding, and quality defects.
  • Aggregate purchasing power to negotiate deep volume discounts with fewer, preferred suppliers.
  • Break down a component's material, labor, and overhead costs to negotiate prices based on actual market values rather than supplier quotes.
  • Define and implement dual-source strategies by developing and qualifying alternative vendors for Tier 1 custom-fabricated or critical electrical components and manage the Approved Vendor List (AVL) to ensure supply continuity during capacity constraints, quality issues, or disruptions.
  • Conduct PPV analysis to achieve savings targets calculating and report on the difference between the standard price and actual purchase price using the standard formula.
  • Achieve MRO cost savings targets focused on optimizing indirect spending, reducing spare parts inventory, and negotiating supplier contracts to lower TCO.
  • Lower total cost by negotiating bulk pricing, long-term contracts, and favorable payment terms to boost profit margins.
  • Develop actionable business continuity plans to navigate supply chain disruptions, mitigate shortages, and maintain desired service levels.
  • Set strict Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for vendors, reducing manufacturing defects and downtime.
  • Utilize supplier scorecards to track exact metrics like on-time delivery (>95% target), defect rates (<100 PPM), and lead time adherence.
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Finance to align sourcing strategies with product lifecycles and production needs.

Position Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management experience, specifically within a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or Engineering. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in domestic and global sourcing, managing international vendor networks, and understanding geopolitical/market impacts.
  • Deep understanding of ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) mandates, carbon accounting, and trade regulations.
  • Mastery of AI-driven predictive forecasting tools, automated contract management software, and digital twin technology.
  • EV Technology Literacy: Deep understanding of EV components like lithium-ion cells, battery management systems (BMS), traction motors, and power electronics (DC-DC converters, inverters) to effectively evaluate supplier capabilities.
  • Upstream Commodity Sourcing: Expertise in securing critical raw materials and navigating their volatile global pricing.
  • Risk Mitigation & Dual Sourcing: Ability to foresee bottlenecks and qualify multiple backup suppliers for production-critical parts to avoid plant shutdowns.
  • Global Trade & Policy Expertise: Thorough knowledge of international logistics, customs clearance, tariffs, and governmental policies (e.g., local content requirements and subsidies) to ensure compliance and cost-efficiency.
  • Strategic Cost Modeling: Capability to execute detailed analysis of supplier manufacturing costs, including tooling, material, and labor, to negotiate optimal Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
  • Supplier Relationship Management (SRM): Establishing long-term, collaborative partnerships with key OEM/ODM suppliers.
  • Data-Driven Negotiation: Leveraging supply chain analytics and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) forecasting tools to drive negotiations and measure vendor performance
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working seamlessly with internal R&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams to ensure sourced components meet exact voltage, durability, and duty-cycle requirements.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated success in team building, coaching, and leading large cross-functional teams.
  • Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management and executive-level presentation skills.
