Job description

Overview
Location: USA - Remote
Travel: 40% - 50%
Visa Sponsorship: Not available for this position
About This Role
WD-40 Company is seeking a Director of Sourcing to lead our Americas co-manufacturing and raw materials sourcing strategy. This is a hands-on role for a sourcing professional who thrives on building supplier relationships, executing strategy at ground level, and driving EBITDA impact across a network of packagers, blenders, and raw material suppliers throughout the USMCA region.
This is not a role for someone who directs from a distance. You will own supplier relationships, lead negotiations, travel to supplier sites, and be personally involved in the work - alongside a small, high-performing team. If you're energized by that, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management
  • Lead sourcing strategy for WD-40's Americas co-manufacturing network - packagers, blenders, and contract manufacturers across the USMCA region
  • Own raw materials sourcing across direct spend categories; chemical sourcing experience a strong plus but raw materials experience in any manufacturing category considered
  • Develop and execute 3-5 year category strategies balancing cost, quality, supply security, and supplier relationship health
  • Lead RFI/RFP/RFQ processes to identify, qualify, and onboard best-in-class suppliers aligned with WD-40's values and operational requirements

Supplier Relationship Management
  • Build and sustain deep, trust-based relationships with co-manufacturers and key raw material suppliers - many of whom have partnered with WD-40 for decades
  • Implement SRM programs that drive supplier performance, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Travel regularly to supplier and co-manufacturer sites across the Americas to build and maintain those relationships firsthand

Business Continuity & Risk Management
  • Develop and maintain actionable continuity plans across the supplier network, including constrained and sole-source supply situations
  • Proactively monitor market intelligence, geopolitical risk, tariff exposure, and commodity trends; translate findings into sourcing strategy adjustments
  • Partner with the internal chemistry and technical teams to understand formulation requirements and supplier capability needs

Financial Management & Cost Modeling
  • Own cost of goods budgeting and forecasting for Americas acquisition costs
  • Build cost models that provide transparency across market-based and contractual changes
  • Lead cost reduction and EBITDA improvement initiatives across the supplier network

Team & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Lead and develop one direct report; mentor and elevate team capability over time
  • Partner closely with internal peers in chemistry, engineering, operations, finance, and commercial leadership
  • Collaborate with global supply chain counterparts across EIMEA and Asia Pacific

Qualifications
Must-Have
  • 10+ years of strategic sourcing and negotiation experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated experience sourcing raw materials
  • Proven track record managing co-manufacturing or contract manufacturing supplier relationships
  • Hands-on sourcing execution capability - this role requires doing the work, not just directing it
  • Strong negotiation skills across complex, multi-criteria supplier agreements
  • Financial acumen - cost modeling, budgeting, and P&L impact analysis
  • Servant leadership approach with experience developing team members
  • Ability to work remotely with 40-50% travel across the Americas
  • Bachleors degree

Strong Plus
  • Experience sourcing chemicals, solvents, petroleum derivatives, or specialty chemical raw materials
  • Background in aerosol, consumer products, or CPG manufacturing environments
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, supply chain, or related field

Cultural Fit - Non-Negotiable
  • Relationship-first mindset - WD-40 has supplier partnerships spanning 30-50 years; how you show up with suppliers matters as much as what you negotiate
  • Collaborative, values-driven approach to internal and external stakeholders
  • Comfortable in a decentralized, matrix organization where influence matters more than authority
  • Energy and presence to represent WD-40 effectively with packagers and co-manufacturers in the field
