Reports To: Head Coach & Activities Director
Purpose Statement:
The Assistant Softball Coach supports the Head Coach in building a successful and student-centered softball program. This position is responsible for promoting skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and character growth. The Assistant Coach helps foster a positive team environment where athletes are supported on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in organizing and leading practices, games, and team events
  • Support individual and team skill development
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to student-athletes
  • Help coordinate game-day logistics, equipment, and uniforms
  • Promote positive behavior, sportsmanship, and academic accountability
  • Communicate effectively with players, families, and school staff
  • Adhere to MSHSAA and district policies and procedures

Job Requirements:
  • Knowledge of softball fundamentals, strategies, and safety protocols
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with students and families
  • Must meet MSHSAA coaching requirements
  • Previous coaching or playing experience preferred
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)

Work Environment:
  • Practices and games held on weekday afternoons/evenings and some weekends
  • Outdoor and indoor environments depending on weather
  • Travel required for away games

Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree and/or teaching certificate preferred, but not required
  • Experience working with high school students is strongly preferred
