Director, Technical Products & Platforms Risk Leader - Enterprise Services Risk Office

The Enterprise Services Risk organization is expanding with a focus on attracting innovative, pioneering, collaborative, and highly skilled professionals. We operate at the forefront of risk management, providing support for novel and developing technologies, as well as critical business strategies. Diverse perspectives and experiences are valued as we work to redefine the financial sector.

As a Technical Products & Platforms Risk Director, you will apply your risk management, product, and technical expertise to the company's digital products. Responsibilities require partnering with a broad set of leaders and stakeholders to identify existing and potential emerging risks in an open, collaborative environment where new ideas and solutions are both welcomed and rewarded. This role will have a high level of exposure across lines of business and the opportunity to work with executives to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with product and tech leaders by leveraging a trusted advisor model to propel key business initiatives though integrated risk strategies

  • Develop a deep understanding of business strategies, products, services, and risk profile to inform emerging risks and mitigation priorities

  • Ensure independent escalation of risk management gaps, issues, and concerns, including emerging risks and regulatory focus area

  • Consult on Risks across the first line of defense business partners providing advice and guidance as needed

  • Provide risk oversight to ongoing risk assessments and processes criticality assessments

  • Manage multiple tasks independently to meet deadline

  • Communicate complex ideas concisely and convincingly, adjust communication to the audience and comfortable with presenting to executive leadership

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Military Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in Risk Management, Digital Product Technology, or External Audit

  • At least 7 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal or external business clients

  • At least 7 years of experience planning and leading IT audits or risk assessments

  • At least 4 years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of experience in Risk Management supporting platforms and tech products

  • At least 7 years of experience consulting with senior executives or strategy building

  • At least 3 years of experience in the Financial Services industry

  • Risk Certifications (CRISC, CISM, CRCM, CIPP, ABA Risk Mgmt Certification)

  • Consulting or Audit experience with a Big 4 firm

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000 for Director, Cyber Risk & Analysis


Richmond, VA: $209,500 - $239,100 for Director, Cyber Risk & Analysis










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
