Director of Construction


The Director of Construction is responsible for helping develop and grow the 7 Brew portfolio by leading the construction execution strategy, building and developing a high-performing team of Project Managers, and delivering a pipeline of approximately 30-50 new locations annually. This role ensures the organization has the people, processes, resources, and partnerships necessary to support sustained growth while delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget.


Job Summary

The Director of Construction is responsible for leading the execution of the 7 Brew development portfolio and building the construction organization required to support the brand's continued growth. This role provides leadership to a team of 3-5 Project Managers and is accountable for the successful delivery of approximately 30-50 new locations annually.

The Director of Construction develops and executes portfolio strategies, manages a rolling pipeline of projects, allocates resources across the portfolio, and drives consistent project execution from site approval through store opening. This leader partners closely with Real Estate, Design, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and external partners to ensure the successful expansion of the 7 Brew brand.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of the 7 Brew development portfolio to support the company's annual growth objectives and long-term expansion strategy.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of Project Managers responsible for delivering new store construction projects across the portfolio.
  • Establish organizational structure, workforce planning, and resource strategies to support the successful delivery of approximately 30-50 new locations annually.
  • Maintain oversight of a rolling pipeline of development projects, ensuring appropriate prioritization, resource allocation, risk management, and execution plans are in place.
  • Provide leadership, direction, coaching, and accountability to Project Managers to ensure consistent execution and professional development across the team.
  • Partner with Real Estate, Design, Operations, Finance, Procurement, and other stakeholders to align construction execution with company growth objectives.
  • Develop and implement scalable construction processes, standards, reporting tools, and governance practices that support a rapidly growing development program.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, identify risks and opportunities, and proactively implement mitigation strategies to achieve schedule, budget, quality, and opening targets.
  • Provide executive leadership with visibility into portfolio performance, construction forecasts, resource needs, and key business risks.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards and brand requirements.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and collaboration throughout the construction organization.
  • Lead relationships with contractors, consultants, vendors, and other external partners to drive performance and achieve business objectives.


 Technical / Functional Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all phases of project execution, including planning, design, permitting, construction, closeout, and turnover.
  • Review and approve project schedules, budgets, contracts, and change management activities.
  • Establish project controls and reporting mechanisms to track performance across the development portfolio.
  • Manage consultant, contractor, and vendor relationships to ensure quality execution and accountability.
  • Support capital planning, forecasting, and annual portfolio budgeting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and established project management methodologies.

Knowledge

  • Restaurant development experience in CA and NV

Education/Experience

  • Requires a bachelor's degree preferably in Construction Management or Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated successful supervision of construction project managers and/or job superintendents.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures
