We're growing and looking for a Director of Operational Technology, Controls who is responsible for leading a team of technologists and overseeing the programming, integrations, and network infrastructure that support our automation, security, and access control systems. This role ensures our operational technology solutions are standardized, repeatable, scalable, secure, and responsive to evolving business and market demands while driving technical excellence and operational reliability.

What you will do:

  • Lead and oversee the Operational Technology (OT) programming function, establishing and enforcing programming standards, code quality, documentation practices, and development methodologies to ensure consistency, reliability, and scalability across all projects and programmers.
  • Define, implement, and maintain OT network architecture standards in collaboration with Information Technology, ensuring systems are secure, scalable, resilient, and compliant with customer requirements and industry cybersecurity best practices.
  • Oversee and continuously improve reusable code libraries, templates, programming standards, and best practices that increase efficiency and standardization across automation, security, and access control systems.
  • Establish and communicate the strategic vision for Operational Technology by monitoring emerging technologies, industry trends, and evolving customer needs in building automation, security, controls, and system integration.
  • Establish and maintain standards for OT platforms, programming tools, development environments, and internal technical solutions that improve operational efficiency and support long-term business growth.
  • Develop and execute the Operational Technology roadmap, identifying opportunities to improve internal capabilities, programming efficiency, and system integration through new tools, automation, and process improvements.
  • Manage programming team capacity, workload, and resource planning to support project execution and ongoing service demands.
  • Develop departmental goals, performance metrics, budgets, and operational plans, monitoring results and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee the planning and delivery of customer training for automation, security, and control systems at project turnover, ensuring customers are equipped to effectively operate and manage their systems.
  • Evaluate new technologies, platforms, and product offerings for technical capability, cybersecurity, interoperability, scalability, and commercial viability. Partner with Sales, Engineering, and Field Operations to assess and implement solutions that align with organizational capabilities and strategic objectives.
  • Foster collaboration across Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Field Operations, Service, and Information Technology to ensure Operational Technology solutions are aligned with business
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


    Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in operational technology (OT) or related technology environments.
    • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing technical teams.
    • Demonstrated experience leading software development, controls programming, system integration, and commissioning activities for complex commercial or industrial projects.
    • Experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing new technologies, software platforms, and vendor solutions.
    • Demonstrated success developing technical standards, engineering processes, quality assurance programs, and scalable operational procedures.
    • Experience working collaboratively with Sales, Engineering, Project Management, Field Operations, Service, and Information Technology organizations.
    • Strong understanding of applicable industry standards, cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory requirements related to operational technology and industrial control systems.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with all organizational levels
