Raritan Valley Country Club, established in 1911, is a distinguished private club located in Bridgewater, New Jersey. The Club features an impeccably manicured 18-hole championship golf course, a stunning 30,000-square-foot clubhouse, four Har-Tru tennis courts, four pickleball courts, two indoor squash courts, and a resort-style swimming pool with a waterslide. Members also enjoy exceptional dining options, vibrant social events, and year-round programming.
We are currently seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Assistant Racquets Professional with a passion for teaching tennis and pickleball to players of all ages and skill levels. This role will support the Racquets Director in the organization and execution of tournaments, round robins, and corporate outings, as well as assist with light court maintenance. Professional certification (USPTA, PTR, or PPR) is a plus. Weekday evening and weekend availability is required.
Pay: $25 an hour, plus commissions on instructional programs and select events
Schedule: Part-time, seasonal position (April 1 - October 1); 20-25 hours per week; weekday evening and weekend hours required

Job purpose
Provide members and their guests group and individual tennis and pickleball lessons. Assist the Director of Racquets with socials, tournaments and events as assigned. Court and general maintenance job duties will include all aspects of clay court maintenance assigned by the Director of Tennis.
Duties and responsibilities
  • Provide private and group tennis and pickleball lessons
  • Provide teaching balls for all lessons and keep them in good order.
  • Run or assist in tennis socials and events.
  • Organize and run pickleball socials and events.
  • Correctly charge all lessons and events in the POS.
  • Maintain attendance book in the pro shop.
  • Responsible for inspecting all courts and for opening procedures, maintenance, repair and grooming.
  • Responsible for scrubbing, line and debris removal, cleaning, drying and general upkeep of clay courts, rolling
  • brushing of courts.
  • Make sure all surrounding areas are cleaned and maintained and daily opening procedures are followed according to the instructions of the Supervisor. Responsible for any daily upkeep duties such as repair to the courts cleaning water coolers and replacing ice and water.
  • Participate in the court resurfacing program in coordination with the supervisor's schedule.
  • Preparation and assignment of tasks for self and Court Maintenance Staff during rain day(s).
  • Pick up off-site supplies as needed or directed.
  • Responsible for daily court maintenance during tournaments, Member events, exhibitions and special events

Qualifications
Two years of teaching experience. USPTA/USPTR/Pickleball certification required or in the process of obtaining them.
Working conditions
Work is primarily outdoors. Potential exposure to sharp and rapid equipment movement, sharp utensils, harmful chemicals.

Physical requirements
Good organizational and verbal skills. Ability to use logical and rational thinking to resolve issues. Ability to perform basic mathematical skills, monitors and develops subordinates, visually monitor the operation areas, write and read member communication.
Must have the ability to perform moderate physical work and may be required to lift up to 50 lbs., up to 40 lbs. frequently and up to 20 lbs. constantly. Perform activities such as bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, lifting and grasping for up to 5 hours without sitting. Ability to consistently lift, carry and load adaptive and other sports equipment that may weigh 50 or more pounds, and sustain aerobic activity for 20 consecutive minutes.
Please be advised that all work that requires the use of a ladder more than 8 ft. long must be reviewed by Hampton Golf's Club Maintenance person. Following an assessment of the situation, a determination will be made as to whether a maintenance team member or subcontractors will perform the necessary maintenance task. No other staff member is authorized to climb to heights exceeding 8 ft. and/or perform such maintenance. In addition, personnel are prohibited from entering facility attics, walking on the roof of buildings and/or from using scaffolding.
Use the following safety precautions when using an 8ft. ladder:
  • Correct placement of the ladder. The safest angle for a straight ladder is to ensure it is placed on-fourth the distance from the base to the point of support. "A" frame ladders naturally comply.
  • Ensure the ladder is placed on a firm level surface, and do not place the ladder near a doorway.
  • Ensure there are non-skid shoes on the ladder.
  • If using a medal ladder, be sure that it is not near electrical wires.
  • One person on a ladder at one time, and ensure another staff member is holding the ladder in position.
  • Never overreach.
