Job description

The Director of Project Management is responsible for overall project delivery of utility-scale solar EPC projects at the site level. This role has full accountability for schedule, budget, contract execution, and client satisfaction from Notice to Proceed (NTP) through Commercial Operation Date (COD). Working closely with the Construction Director, this position leads project controls, reporting, and commercial management to ensure successful project outcomes and margin protection.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Oversight

  • Serve as the senior project leader responsible for end-to-end delivery of on-site EPC projects (20MW–500MW+)
  • Partner with the Construction Director to align field execution with project objectives
  • Ensure all project functions (construction, engineering, procurement, commissioning) are coordinated and integrated

Schedule & Cost Management

  • Own and manage the master project schedule, including critical path and milestone tracking (NTP to COD)
  • Oversee project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls to ensure financial targets are met
  • Lead variance analysis and implement corrective actions to address schedule or cost deviations

Contract & Commercial Management

  • Administer EPC contracts, ensuring compliance with scope, terms, and conditions
  • Lead change order management, claims development, and dispute resolution
  • Protect project margins through proactive commercial oversight and risk mitigation

Project Controls & Reporting

  • Direct project controls including scheduling, cost tracking, and performance reporting
  • Provide regular updates to executive leadership and clients (progress, risks, financials)
  • Implement KPI tracking and reporting systems to measure project performance

Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify project risks across schedule, cost, supply chain, and execution
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies
  • Escalate critical issues and drive timely resolution

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the client/owner on project performance
  • Manage relationships with utilities, regulators, and third-party stakeholders
  • Lead project meetings, reporting reviews, and executive updates

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related field (preferred)
  • 10–15+ years of project management experience, including utility-scale solar or large infrastructure EPC projects
  • Proven track record managing full lifecycle EPC contracts from NTP to COD
  • Strong knowledge of project controls, scheduling, and cost management practices
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, MS Project)
