Job description

The Holden R-III School District has the following position for the 2026-27 school year:
Director of Facilities and Operations
Reports To: Superintendent FLSA Status: Exempt | 11-Month Position Salary: Salary will be determined according to the Holden R-III Administrative Salary Schedule. Initial placement on the salary schedule will be based on verified years of directly related experience in facilities, operations, maintenance, construction management, or a closely related field.
Position Summary
The Director of Facilities and Operations provides leadership for the planning, maintenance, safety, and operation of all district facilities and grounds. This position oversees maintenance, custodial services, grounds, capital improvement projects, operational budgets, and regulatory compliance to ensure safe, efficient, and well-maintained learning environments that support the district's mission.
Essential Duties
  • Lead all maintenance, custodial, grounds, and facility operations.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and long-range facilities plans.
  • Oversee construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects.
  • Supervise and evaluate facilities and operations personnel while fostering a culture of service, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets; monitor expenditures and recommend cost-saving initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and facilities regulations.
  • Coordinate inspections, repairs, work orders, and maintenance of district buildings, equipment, and grounds.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships and oversee purchasing in accordance with district policy.
  • Support district emergency preparedness, safety initiatives, and facility security.
  • Coordinate facility use and support school and community events.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for the Superintendent and Board of Education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in facilities management, construction management, business, engineering, public administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressively responsible leadership experience in facilities or operations management.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, budgeting, project management, and personnel supervision.
  • Valid Missouri driver's license. K-12 school experience preferred.

Demonstrated leadership, organization, communication, project management, budgeting, problem-solving, customer service, and the ability to build positive relationships while maintaining safe, efficient, and attractive district facilities.
Performance Expectations
Performance will be evaluated based on leadership, stewardship of district resources, facility appearance and safety, responsiveness to operational needs, successful project management, regulatory compliance, budget management, customer service, and support of the Holden R-III School District's mission and strategic goals.
