Job description

The Director of Development supports the mission of SOAR! through leading and managing the direct response efforts of the organization, including direct mail appeals, newsletters, eblasts, texts, digital solicitations and acknowledgements. The Director is responsible for donor stewardship and oversees the online giving , as well as the monthly giving program. This position serves as the donor database administrator (Raiser’s Edge/NXT). Assists with special events as needed.

Reports to: Vice President for Advancement

Primary Responsibilities Direct Response
  • Develops and implements, the annual direct response fundraising plan (both print and online) in conjunction with the direct mail agency partner and the Vice President.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with vendor partners – including direct mail agency, Blackbaud, list broker, and caging.
  • Identifies congregations and grants to highlight in the direct mail program ensuring the theme and vision for the year are highlighted.
  • Develops annual budget, including expenditures and revenue, for the direct mail program.
  • Manages, tracks and submits invoices for the direct mail program.
Donor Database
  • Performs weekly database audits and establishes and refines clear protocols and processes to maintain data integrity.
  • Creates reports, queries and fundraising dashboards to view and monitor progress towards goals
  • Supervises the donor database coordinator.
Planned and Major Giving
  • Identifies potential major and planned giving donors.
  • Ensures that regular messaging regarding planned giving options is a component of the direct response program.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Three or more years of progressive experience in non-profit fundraising
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
  • Proficient in Raiser’s Edge and has a clear understanding of how data supports accountability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with consistent attention to detail, priorities and deadlines.
  • Motivated self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Understanding of and appreciation for the Catholic Church and the mission of SOAR!

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
