This is a full-time (40 hrs/wk) position that will require evenings and weekends for events or donor engagement.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Development leads the design and execution of a comprehensive, multi-channel fundraising strategy that fuels the long-term sustainability and growth of Path to College. This includes oversight of all fundraising initiatives, including: major and principal gifts, capital gifts, annual fund, planned giving, online giving, annual campaigns, and donor events.

The ideal candidate is both a relationship builder and a strategic fundraiser with a proven track record in campaign management, donor cultivation, and event-based fundraising. They will work closely with the CEO, Board of Directors, and Development Champions to engage the community and secure the resources needed to advance our mission.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead, plan, and execute a diversified fundraising program, including major, principal, and planned giving, annual fund, corporate partnerships, and special campaigns.
  • Manage a major and principal gifts portfolio, developing tailored cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Build and grow the planned giving program, focusing on bequests, deferred gifts, and legacy commitments.
  • Direct capital and comprehensive campaigns, including strategy development, prospect pipeline management, case materials, and campaign communications.
  • Plan and oversee cultivation and stewardship fundraising events, ensuring alignment with brand, mission, and revenue goals.
  • Oversee grant research, proposal writing, and reporting in partnership with program and finance teams.
  • Create reports, track metrics, and inform the CEO of goal progress.
    • Support and staff the Board Development Committee, helping engage board members in relationship-building and fundraising.
    • Oversee prospect research and maintain accurate donor records in the CRM.
    • Manage gift recognition, stewardship communications, and annual impact reporting.
    • Represent Path to College at community events and speaking engagements to cultivate relationships and increase visibility.
    • Supervise and mentor development staff and contractors to achieve annual fundraising goals.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Deep belief in the mission and values of Path to College.
    • 57 years of professional experience in fundraising, including major gifts, principal giving, planned giving, campaigns, and event management.
    • Proven track record of closing six-figure gifts and achieving revenue goals.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
    • Strong relationship-building and donor stewardship abilities.
    • Highly organized, self-motivated, and goal-oriented.
    • Collaborative and able to inspire staff, board members, and volunteers to engage in fundraising.
    • Bachelors degree required.
