Your Part in It:
Working out of our Chicago office, we are looking for a senior Customs Brokerage professional to develop and grow our U.S. Customs Brokerage business. This role is responsible for generating new business, representing a minimum of 10,000+ customs entries annually, and building a portfolio of high-quality, sustainable, and profitable U.S. importer accounts. The role will also leverage Traffic Tech's existing customer base and broader logistics capabilities to identify and develop new Customs opportunities.

DIRECTOR OF SALES - U.S. CUSTOMS BROKERAGE

What the Job Entails:

  • Prospect, develop and close new U.S. Customs Brokerage customers.
  • Deliver a minimum individual contribution of 10,000+ new customs entries annually.
  • Build and maintain a strong pipeline of mid-market, enterprise and high volume U.S. importers.
  • Identify and pursue Customs opportunities within Traffic Tech's existing Global Freight Forwarding and OTR customer base.
  • Develop relationships with key decision makers including import, logistics, supply chain, finance and procurement leadership.
  • Sell Traffic Tech's full range ofUS Customs Brokerage and related services.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services including duty drawback, tariff management, compliance and other value added Customs solutions.
  • Cross-sell complementary Traffic Tech services including Ocean, Air, Drayage and Domestic Transportation where appropriate.
  • Work closely with Customs operations and leadership to develop competitive and operationally sound customer solutions.
  • Lead customer presentations, RFQs, proposals and commercial negotiations.
  • Maintain commercial discipline around pricing, margins, credit exposure and overall customer profitability.
  • Maintain an active and measurable sales pipeline with accurate forecasting of expected entries, revenue and GP.
  • Support the successful onboarding and implementation of new Customs customers.
  • Develop long term customer relationships focused on retention, organic growth and increased share of wallet.
  • Represent Traffic Tech at customer meetings, industry events and relevant trade organizations.

Performance Expectations:

  • 10,000+ new customs entries annually.
  • Consistent acquisition of new U.S. importer accounts.
  • Strong individual revenue and GP contribution.
  • Development of a sustainable pipeline capable of supporting continued year-over-year personal growth.
  • Increased Customs penetration within existing Traffic Tech accounts.
  • Strong customer retention and organic growth within personally developed accounts.
  • Maintain appropriate GP margins, pricing and credit quality.

What We Are Looking For:

  • 10+ years of U.S. Customs Brokerage sales/business development experience.
  • Proven track record of personally developing significant customs brokerage business.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate high volume Customs entry opportunities.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs processes, tariffs, duties and importer requirements.
  • Experience selling duty drawback, compliance and other value-added Customs solutions considered an asset.
  • Established network of U.S. importers and industry relationships.
  • Strong prospecting, presentation, negotiation and closing capabilities.
  • Commercially focused with a strong understanding of revenue, GP, pricing and account profitability.
  • Self-motivated, entrepreneurial and comfortable operating with a high degree of independence.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Customs operations, Global Freight Forwarding, OTR and other Traffic Tech business units.
