Teacher Development Lead - Math


Job Title: Teacher Development Lead - Math Reports To: Director of Math Classification: Professional Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Days: 223 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Administrative/Professional Pay Plan, Pay Grade 104 Contract: Probationary/Term Date Revised: 2/7/2024 Primary Purpose: Provide teacher support through curriculum resources, instructional coaching, and professional learning (for teachers and leaders) Qualifications/Skills:

Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teaching Certificate from out of state appropriate for position
  • Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law

Special Knowledge/Skills: 

  • Knowledge and experience in instructional coaching
  • Strong content knowledge in math
  • Knowledge of best practices for math instruction for diverse learners
  • Ability to effectively engage adult learners in professional learning
  • Understanding of the needs of various groups of students such as Emergent Bilingual, Gifted/Talented, 504, Special Education, and students at risk
  • Establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with others
  • Comprehensive knowledge of instructional strategies, the role of PLCs, intervention and enrichment, and student assessment
  • Knowledge and comfort with the use of technology in the classroom

Experience: 

  • Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years instructional leadership experience required
Major Duties and
Responsibilities:

Duties:

  • Collect and analyze data in order to lead data meetings and to inform instructional decisions
  • Foster collegiality and team building among appropriate personnel, encouraging active involvement in decision-making
  • Develop and revise curriculum documents as needed
  • Actively participate in professional development in areas related to job responsibilities
  • Model district standards of ethics, core values, confidentiality and professionalism
  • Provide leadership in improving the instructional program in the schools
  • Positively collaborate with school leaders to design and support programs on campuses
  • Plan lessons with teachers
  • Support teachers in documenting student progress.
  • Develop and deliver district-wide professional learning
  • Communicate district curriculum, instructional practices, district accomplishments, and goals to all stakeholders
  • Cultivate partnerships with local, state, and national leaders in the field (including business and community representatives, institutions of higher education, etc.) to ensure the continued growth of the department
  • Project a positive image to the community
