Firefly Children & Family Alliance is currently seeking a Director of Marketing and Communications. In this position, you are responsible for developing and executing strategies that advance Firefly’s mission, strengthen brand visibility, and engage key stakeholders. You will oversee all marketing, communications, and public relations initiatives, ensuring consistent messaging and a powerful organizational presence across all channels.

You will work closely with the executive team, staff, and external partners to support fundraising, advocacy, and program initiatives.

Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy aligned with organizational goals.
  • Provide strategic counsel to the CEO and senior leadership team on branding, messaging, and communications opportunities.
  • Participate in monthly operations meetings to ensure cohesive communication strategies across programs and departments.

Brand Management

  • Strengthen and protect the organization’s brand identity, ensuring consistency across print, digital, and verbal communications.
  • Lead efforts to enhance Firefly’s visibility with donors, partners, media, and the broader community.
  • Oversee brand standards and guide staff and vendors to maintain a unified brand voice and image.

Marketing & Communications

  • Oversee creation and implementation of marketing campaigns that support fundraising, events, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Utilize technology to increase communications capacity and fine tune messages to diverse audiences.
  • Manage media relations, including press releases, crisis communications, and cultivating relationships with local and state media.
  • Ensure all publications, reports, and promotional materials reflect Firefly’s voice, values, and mission.

Team Leadership & Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of marketing and communications professionals, contractors, and vendors.
  • Establish clear goals, performance metrics, and professional development opportunities for team members.
  • Manage departmental budget, ensuring effective use of resources.
  • Stakeholder Engagement.
  • Develop, update, and implement a communication plan to provide information to others in the field, clients, and stakeholders about how to best support families and communities.
  • Collaborate with the development team to craft compelling donor communications and fundraising materials.
  • Support program staff in communicating program outcomes and impact stories.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external agencies, vendors, and community partners.
  • Partner with the CEO to develop advocacy materials and strategies that advance Firefly’s policy and community impact goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, communications, or related nonprofit roles.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing strategic marketing and communications plans that deliver measurable results.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and capable of balancing both strategic and tactical responsibilities.
