The Director of Nursing is responsible for the operational leadership, administration, and continuous improvement of all nursing services across the Center for Addiction Treatment (CAT). This position provides leadership to nursing personnel, ensures the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care, and promotes excellence in nursing practice while supporting CAT's mission of providing compassionate, evidence-based addiction treatment.

The Director of Nursing is responsible for the daily operation of nursing services, including staffing, clinical quality, regulatory compliance, infection prevention, patient safety, and nursing workforce development. Working collaboratively with the Vice President of Clinical Services, Director of Clinical Services, Medical Director, Director of Information Management and other organizational leaders, the Director of Nursing ensures nursing services are fully integrated into the organization’s interdisciplinary model of care.

The Director of Nursing serves as a member of CAT's Management Team and plays a critical role in advancing organizational quality, operational efficiency, financial stewardship, and exceptional patient outcomes.

• Nursing Leadership
  • Direct the day-to-day operations of all nursing services
  • Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, mentoring, and support to nursing leadership and staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, compassion, and patient-centered care.
  • Promote evidence-based nursing practice and trauma-informed care.
  • Maintain visibility within patient care areas and provide hands‑on leadership when needed.
  • Build a positive work environment that supports employee engagement and retention.
  • Develop future nursing leaders through mentoring and succession planning.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Current unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the State of Ohio required.
• CPR certification required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
• Behavioral health and/or addiction treatment experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Joint Commission accreditation, OMHAS regulations, and healthcare regulatory compliance preferred.
• Demonstrated success in operational leadership, staff development, quality improvement, and financial management.

The Director of Nursing works in both office and healthcare environments with frequent interaction throughout patient care areas.

This position may involve:

• Exposure to communicable diseases and bloodborne pathogens.
• Exposure to patients experiencing withdrawal symptoms, psychiatric symptoms, behavioral crises, or medical emergencies.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and other healthcare-related materials.
• Occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, or on-call responsibilities based on organizational needs.
• Responding to emergencies requiring immediate leadership and decision‑making.
• Maintaining a visible presence throughout the organization and providing operational support during staffing shortages, regulatory surveys, or other situations affecting patient care and organizational operations.

• Ability to identify withdrawal symptoms and addictive behavior of chemically dependent individuals
• Ability to identify medical complications during treatment and respond appropriately

• Good understanding of the treatment program
• Values accurate and timely documentation in the medical chart, and monitors same in reporting staff
• Excellent understanding of infection control issues and ability to be proactive in implementing safeguards
• Ability to handle medical emergencies – Code Blue
• Database, spread sheet, and word processing skills
• Ability to navigate the building with or without reasonable accommodation and monitor patient and staff activity

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit, climb stairs; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
