A healthcare organization is seeking a Director of Payroll to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for enterprise payroll functions. This hybrid leadership position supports a complex multi-state environment and partners with HR, HRIS, and IT teams to maintain payroll systems, improve processes, and ensure accurate and compliant payroll operations.

Responsibilities

Provide executive-level leadership and direction for payroll operations within a large, complex organization.

Lead payroll teams and oversee daily payroll activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Serve as the payroll business lead and subject matter expert while partnering with HRIS and IT teams.

Support Oracle Payroll systems through post-go-live activities, including testing, system validation, troubleshooting, enhancements, and optimization.

Ensure payroll compliance across multiple states and maintain strong operational controls.

Identify opportunities for payroll process improvement, automation, and workflow optimization.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support payroll-related initiatives and business objectives.

Promote consistent payroll practices, accuracy, and service excellence across the organization.

Requirements

10+ years of progressive payroll leadership within a large, complex organization.

Hands-on experience with Oracle Payroll (Oracle Fusion Payroll / Oracle Payroll Cloud) and supporting Oracle post-go-live activities including quarterly testing, enhancement requests, troubleshooting, payroll validation, and system optimization.

Strong payroll operations background with demonstrated experience leading payroll teams.

Experience serving as the payroll business lead or subject matter expert partnering with HRIS/IT.

Multi-state payroll leadership in an enterprise environment.

Preferred: Oracle implementation experience.

Preferred: Shared Services environment experience.

Preferred: Payroll process improvement and automation experience.

Preferred: Payroll accounting and GL reconciliation experience.

Preferred: Healthcare industry experience (strongly preferred).

Schedule

Hybrid position with regular on-site reporting in Brentwood, TN.

Travel requirements up to 20%.
