Schedule: Monday–Friday, Full-Time

We are partnering with a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families impacted by life-altering events achieve healing, stability, and long-term well-being. Through a holistic, community-centered approach, the organization provides high-quality behavioral health and supportive services to diverse populations across New York City.

We are seeking an experienced Director of Behavioral Health Services to provide strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for outpatient behavioral health programs. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned behavioral health leader seeking a full-time contract position with a respected nonprofit organization.

Position Summary

The Director of Behavioral Health Services is responsible for overseeing the organization's outpatient behavioral health programs, including an Article 31 Mental Health Clinic and an Article 32 Substance Use Treatment Program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for outpatient behavioral health programs.
  • Oversee the quality, performance, compliance, and growth of Article 31 and Article 32 programs.
  • Supervise and mentor clinical leadership staff, providing administrative and clinical oversight.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable OMH, OASAS, federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Monitor program outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support staff development through coaching, supervision, and performance management.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership on strategic planning and program development.
  • Foster an integrated, trauma-informed, client-centered approach to behavioral healthcare.
  • Maintain readiness for audits, licensing reviews, and accreditation activities.
  • Respond to program and staffing needs with flexibility and sound clinical judgment.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited college or university.
  • Current New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required.
  • Current New York State Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) required.
  • Minimum 5 years of behavioral health experience, including work with individuals experiencing substance use and co-occurring disorders.
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical and administrative leadership experience in a behavioral health setting, preferably within Article 31 and/or Article 32 outpatient programs.
  • Thorough knowledge of OMH, OASAS, and other applicable behavioral health regulations.
  • Demonstrated success achieving regulatory compliance, quality outcomes, and program performance goals.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to support program operations.
