Microsoft’s Consumer Marketing Organization’s Social Marketing team is revolutionizing the art of storytelling in the age of AI. We are seeking a highly organized, creatively driven, and production-savvy social media leader that embodies innovation and a deep passion for brand storytelling.

As Director, Social Creative, you will set the creative vision and lead the development of Microsoft’s consumer-facing social content across platforms including LinkedIn, X, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. This is a unique opportunity to shape the creative storytelling for flagship products like Microsoft Copilot, Windows, Surface, Edge, and M365 at a global scale.

You’ll own the creative strategy and direction for social campaigns, guiding concept development, visual direction, and narrative approach to ensure content is bold, innovative, and culturally relevant. This role translates brand and business objectives into breakthrough social-first ideas that resonate with diverse audiences.

As a senior creative leader, you will partner with internal teams, agencies, and production partners to deliver best-in-class content that meets Microsoft’s brand, accessibility, and legal standards. Responsibilities
  • Creative Direction & Storytelling: Drive the creative direction of social campaigns, collaborating with in-house teams and external partners, and leveraging emerging platforms.
  • Translate insights, trends, and cultural moments into breakthrough visual and editorial concepts; lead ideation and development of social-first campaigns, content series, and real-time activations.
  • Conceptualize quick-turn assets across formats, including video, animation, and motion graphics.
  • Direct the creation of cohesive design systems, motion assets, photography, and content that tells a unified consumer journey.
  • Ensure visual consistency and creative excellence across all deliverables.
  • Creative Leadership & Collaboration: Present ideas to internal stakeholders and senior leadership; stay updated on trends in internet culture and audience behavior.
  • Partner with product, brand marketers, strategists, and production teams to meet campaign objectives and audience needs.
  • Integrate AI tools and workflows to scale and enhance creative production quality; collaborate with partners to ensure world-class execution.
  • Apply insights and strategic thinking to marketing challenges and deliver breakthrough solutions in a complex social landscape.
  • Ideate, develop, and execute creative strategies focused on Owned & Creator channels; guide teams in the effective use of AI tools and workflows to improve speed to market.
  • Inspire product storytelling through audience and cultural insights; foster relationships with agencies and production partners to optimize creative work.
  • Manage multiple projects and timelines with a high standard of craft and leadership.
  • Uphold and embody Microsoft culture and values.
Qualifications
  • Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field AND 5+ years of Creative Content Production (e.g., digital, social media, campaign) or related work experience
  • OR equivalent experience
  • 5+ years leading social-first creative across strategy, concepting, copywriting, and multi-format production
  • Additional/Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in Arts, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field AND 3+ years Content Production (e.g., digital, social media, campaign) or related work experience
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Arts, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field AND 7+ years Creative Content Production (e.g., digital, social media, campaign) or related work experience, or equivalent experience
  • 8+ years leading social-first creative across strategy, concepting, copywriting, and multi-format production (consumer tech experience preferred)
Compensation & Benefits

Integrated Marketing IC5 – The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $130,900 - $251,900 per year. The base pay range varies by location (SF Bay Area and NYC metro areas: USD $165,600 - $272,300 per year).
