The Assistant Director of Mechanical Engineering will report to the Director of Mechanical Engineering and assist with the management of Mechanical Engineering Projects, management of the Mechanical Team and assist with overseeing the design of HVAC and plumbing projects.
Responsibilities
  • The Assistant Director of Mechanical Engineering will report to the Director of Mechanical Engineering.
  • The Assistant Director of Mechanical Engineering is responsible to assist with the management of Mechanical Engineering Projects and management of the Mechanical Engineering Design Team including Mechanical Engineers and Project Engineers
  • In addition, the Assistant Director of Mechanical Engineering is responsible to assist with overseeing the design of HVAC and plumbing for commercial construction projects and ensure design is in conformance with project requirements, code requirements, company standards and policies.
  • In addition, the Assistant Director of Mechanical Engineering is responsible to assist with the training and work distribution to the mechanical and project engineers.
  • Participates in project and client meetings
  • Design Mechanical/Plumbing systems for diverse markets (mission critical, communications, commercial, government, etc.)
  • Field verification and documentation of existing systems
  • Coordinates and communicates Mechanical/Plumbing systems with other departments and disciplines
  • The design of HVAC, plumbing and process piping projects designed by the Mechanical Engineering team ensures the design is in conformance with project requirements, code requirements, company standards and policies
  • for production of construction / permit documents for design build projects
  • This work may be self-performed or delegated to the mechanical engineering design team and sub-consultants
  • Survey and as built existing HVAC systems for renovation projects
  • Piping sizing and routing of construction details and schematic diagrams
  • HVAC and plumbing system design solutions based on engineering principles
  • Presentation and coordination of system design with client, owner, general contractor, PMI office staff, field crew and other team members
  • Assist the Director in resolving engineering related operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases
  • Assist the Director interpreting client requirements, identifying and addressing design parameters and engineering problems and ensure solutions are implemented accurately
  • Responsible for assisting the director with engineering project budget and cost control
  • Provide presentation materials for and attend project interviews

Qualifications
For work that is self-performed the following skills are required:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License in multiple states
  • NCEES preferred
