Job description

Arms Wide is a child and family-serving organization with a 49-year history that is deeply committed to transforming the lives of children in need of safe and nurturing permanent families in Houston and South Texas.  

The Director of Development works across departments to ensure the integration of a comprehensive communications and donor relations strategy for the organization.  From a project management/detail perspective, this position is responsible for all aspects of Arms Wide's external communications, fundraising appeals, donor stewardship and touchpoints, corporate partnerships, special events, and grants management. The Director of Development is responsible for the development and implementation of fundraising plans and activities with assistance from the Board of Directors. This position is a valued member of the Senior Leadership Team and reports to the President and CEO.  The Director of Development provides direct supervision to development/marketing staff.

Experience/Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited, four-year college or university; and a minimum of three years of commensurate work experience

Experience/Skills Preferred

  • Five years of commensurate work experience in non-profit organizations preferred

Travel Required

  • Reliable transportation is required. Mileage reimbursed.
