Job description

Job Title: Network Security Engineer
Location: Remote in Mexico (need candidates from Mexico region)
Duration: Long term contract
Key Areas: Network Security, Fortinet (FortiGate), Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Cloud Network Security (AWS),
Job Requirements
This role requires hands-on, production-level experience. Candidates with primarily managerial, supervisory, or high-level advisory backgrounds without direct configuration, troubleshooting, and operational ownership will not be a fit.
Technical Requirements
Demonstrated experience personally configuring and operating firewalls and network security controls in live environments is mandatory. High-level familiarity without hands-on execution will not be sufficient.
Additionally,
Experience limited to SOC tooling (SIEM, XDR, SOAR) without direct network and firewall engineering responsibility is not sufficient for this role.
Details
Network Security Operations
  • Design, implement, and support secure network infrastructures across on-prem and AWS environments
  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to network security incidents and alerts
  • Perform firewall rule reviews, policy optimization, and change management
  • Troubleshoot complex network and security issues

Firewall & Perimeter Security
  • Hands-on administration of Fortinet (FortiGate) firewalls including:
    • Security policies, NAT, VPN, and routing
    • IPS, Web Filtering, Application Control, and SSL inspection
  • Hands-on administration of Palo Alto Networks firewalls including:
    • Security policies, NAT, VPNs
    • App-ID, User-ID, Content-ID, WildFire
  • Manage HA configurations, upgrades, patches, and backup/restore activities

Cloud Network Security (AWS)
  • Secure AWS network architectures using:
    • VPC design, subnets, route tables, IGWs, NAT Gateways
    • Security Groups and Network ACLs
  • Deploy and manage firewalls in AWS (FortiGate VM, Palo Alto VM-Series)
  • Implement and maintain site-to-site and client VPNs between AWS and on-prem
  • Support cloud security best practices and shared responsibility model

Network & Connectivity
  • Support LAN, WAN, and Internet connectivity
  • Work with routing and switching concepts (BGP, OSPF, VLANs)
  • Implement network segmentation and zero-trust network principles

Security & Compliance
  • Ensure network security controls meet organizational security standards
  • Support audits and compliance initiatives (ISO 27001, SOC, PCI, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network security designs and configurations

Collaboration & Improvement
  • Collaborate with cloud, infrastructure, SOC, and application teams
  • Recommend improvements to network and cloud security posture
  • Stay current on emerging threats and security technologies
