About

The Account Director is the strategic liaison between merchants, brand partners, and the marketing organization, and the strategic voice of the business within marketing.   Account Director has a deep understanding of company priorities, merchant objectives, brand partnerships, and customer opportunities, and translates those inputs into a focused, actionable plan.  The role identifies business opportunities, secures marketing investment, sets priorities, and translates commercial objectives into focused, actionable marketing plans. The Account Director challenges priorities, provides strategic recommendations, and serves as a trusted advisor to internal and external partners.


Job Overview

The Account Director leads the strategy, investment planning, and relationship management that connects RTW brand partners, merchants, and marketing teams to Bloomingdale's growth priorities. This role turns commercial objectives, customer opportunities, and brand funding into integrated marketing plans that drive measurable business impact across channels. A successful Account Director balances strategic judgment, partnership influence, and analytical rigor to prioritize the highest-value opportunities, secure investment, and advise internal and external stakeholders on how marketing can best support business growth.


Essential Functions

  • Serve as the strategic advisor and primary relationship owner for our portfolio of RTW brand partners, aligning joint business priorities to drive sales, customer acquisition and market share.
  • Develop seasonal and/or annual strategic marketing plans that maximize the brand's and Bloomingdale's investment, aligning marketing resources with enterprise priorities and the highest-value business opportunities.
  • Lead executive-level negotiations with brand partners to secure marketing investment and campaign support that strengthens Bloomingdale's competitive position.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing partnerships and cultivate new brand relationships that unlock incremental funding, drive innovation, and elevate the customer experience.
  • Translate merchant strategies and commercial priorities into marketing plans that deliver measurable business impact by ensuring investments are aligned to customer, marketing channel, category, and brand growth objectives.
  • Evaluate and prioritize competing business opportunities, making strategic investment recommendations that maximize enterprise impact when marketing capacity and resources are limited.
  • Partner closely with Merchandising, Marketing, Digital, CRM, Creative, Stores, and external brand partners to develop integrated campaigns that deliver a seamless customer experience across all touchpoints.
  • Monitor marketing investment performance and campaign effectiveness, leveraging analytics and business insights to optimize future strategies and demonstrate return on investment to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Influence senior leaders and brand partners through data-driven recommendations, thought leadership, and compelling business cases that shape marketing strategy and long-term partnership growth.
  • Champion innovation by identifying emerging market trends, customer behaviors, and partnership opportunities that differentiate Bloomingdale's and strengthen the luxury brand portfolio.
  • Develop and coach 2 direct reports: 1 assistant to the Account Director RTW 1 Content Manager RTW

 


Qualifications

  • 7+ years of director-level experience with a background in retail media, agency experience, or client management

  • Commercially savvy and business-oriented

  • Strong negotiator and relationship builder

  • Comfortable working with senior stakeholders and external partners

  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities

  • Data-driven decision maker

  • Influential communicator with strong presentation skills

  • Proactive problem solver

  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret performance data and translate insights into action

  • Proficient in Adobe Analytics a plus

 


Physical Requirements

  • Hybrid work model that includes in-office and in-store requirements.
  • Occasional prolonged periods of sitting.
  • Continuous use of computers and other office equipment.
  • Occasional lift/move up to 25 lbs.
