Overview

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll take on a leadership role providing technical expertise and guidance for a wide range of projects, from concept to installation, including custom electromechanical equipment, robotics, structures, workstations, and equipment mounting. In this position, you’ll not only apply your expert knowledge of mechanical engineering design principles but also mentor and supervise other engineering personnel while working closely with engineers and project managers to ensure project success. The role offers a mix of office-based design work, hands-on involvement in the shop, and site work at customer locations, giving you the opportunity to see your designs through every stage of development. Flexibility is key, as the position may require travel and extended hours, though overnight travel is typically infrequent. Responsibilities

  • Oversee and direct Mechanical 3D design, 2D drawings, component specification, assembly, and documentation for custom machines, systems, and products
  • Evaluate and review bids and proposals to minimize risk and ensure profitability
  • Recognize and pursue additional business opportunities with new and existing customers
  • Evaluate and implement internal processes and procedures while seeking continuous improvement
  • Assign, oversee, review, and provide feedback to other Engineers and Project Managers on work assignments
  • Identify and execute scope of work or design changes to review with engineers and project management
  • Review and direct schematic drawings, layouts, and other engineering documentation
  • Facilitate problem solving and constructive communication through meetings and trainings
  • Oversee and direct the staffing and training needs of Engineering Personnel
  • Maintain a basic understanding of employment laws and regulations and collaborate with Human Resources to maintain compliance

Working Conditions

Qualifications

  • 10+ years’ of mechanical systems and concepts related work or other relevant work experience required
  • 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Passing PE (Professional Engineering Exam) or ability to obtain preferred
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, define, and edit scope of work
  • Demonstrated ability in training personnel and providing relevant learning opportunities
  • Proficient in the use of software packages such as Inventor, AutoCad, and other simulation and analysis packages
