About the role

Mater Mothers Hospital Springfield is seeking applications for a Registered Midwife - Maternity Inpatients to join us in a permanent, full-time or part-time role.

Based at our Springfield campus, these roles are a part of a landmark moment in Queensland healthcare at Mater Hospital Springfield - which opened in early 2026. As Mater's first new public hospital in over 60 years, this state-of-the-art facility will meet the needs of the growing Greater Springfield region. With 174 public beds, ICU, maternity, emergency and surgical services, it's set to care for over 200,000 patients annually.

As a Level 4 maternity service, we are planning to care for approximately 1,700 women and families each year, providing care for women experiencing low to moderate risk pregnancies. Clear referral pathways are established with Mater Mothers' Hospital South Brisbane for women requiring higher-level care.

Salary range: $44.06 - $56.52 per hour plus 12% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits! 

What you'll be doing

The Registered Midwife (RM) for Maternity Inpatients will involve providing comprehensive Midwifery care, including patient advocacy and addressing physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in a safe, efficient, and patient-centred manner to enhance optimal patient outcomes.

  • Promote safety, security, and integrity for patients and staff
  • Adhere to infection control policies and maintain confidentiality
  • Engage in activities to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction
  • Comply with organisational policies and guidelines
  • Enhance professional development and mentor less experienced staff
  • Value research in improving Nursing/Midwifery outcomes
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and other health professionals
  • Support and encourage patient decision-making in healthcare
  • Accept accountability for actions and ensure communication is professional and ethical
  • Recognise and maintain knowledge base and competence in Nursing/Midwifery practice

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have a current registration with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board to practice as a Registered Midwife and degree-level qualification (Bachelor of Midwifery or combined Nursing/Midwifery).

  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and competency in the provision of midwifery care relevant to a continuity of midwifery care model
  • Provide clinical problem-solving skills to maximise midwifery care
  • Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to plan and coordinate midwifery care in a multidisciplinary team environment providing outcome-based care
