Director of Strategic Projects
Jacksonville, FL | On-Site | 90-Day Contract with Potential Extension
Position Overview
ARC Group is recruiting an experienced Director of Strategic Projects to lead the financial evaluation of strategic projects, business cases, and capital investments within a complex Energy Division.
This is a hands-on role focused on financial modeling, capital budgeting, investment analysis, and executive decision support. The successful candidate will build and evaluate sophisticated business cases, challenge assumptions, assess risk and return, and present clear recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead financial evaluation of strategic projects, business cases, and Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs).
  • Build advanced Excel models incorporating scenarios, sensitivities, and stress testing.
  • Evaluate investments using NPV, IRR, ROIC, payback, and other financial metrics.
  • Develop and challenge financial assumptions, project drivers, risks, and trade-offs.
  • Partner with Finance, Operations, Commercial, Engineering, and Strategy teams to validate business cases.
  • Translate complex financial analysis into clear, executive-ready presentations and recommendations.
  • Present and defend investment recommendations to senior and executive leadership.
  • Establish consistent standards and methodologies for business cases and capital investment analysis.
  • Manage multiple strategic projects and executive deliverables simultaneously.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive finance experience with a strong focus on financial modeling, strategic finance, capital budgeting, business cases, or investment analysis.
  • Hands-on experience building complex financial models and investment analyses.
  • Strong knowledge of NPV, IRR, ROIC, payback, valuation, scenario analysis, and sensitivity analysis.
  • Experience developing business cases and/or Capital Expenditure Requests (CERs).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong PowerPoint and executive presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial analysis to senior leadership and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Energy, Utilities, Marine, Logistics, Infrastructure, Manufacturing, Transportation, or another capital-intensive industry.
  • Experience with large-scale capital investments or strategic projects.
  • Experience working with Operations, Engineering, Commercial, or Strategy teams.
  • MBA, CPA, CFA, or similar advanced credential.

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on strategic finance professional who can independently build an investment model, pressure-test assumptions, evaluate financial risk and return, and confidently present recommendations to executive leadership.
This opportunity is well suited for a Director or Senior Manager of Strategic Finance, Corporate Finance, FP&A, Capital Planning, Corporate Development, or Investment Analysis with significant capital-project experience.
Contract: Initial 90-day engagement with potential for extension
