Description

JE Technology Solutions, a designer and manufacturer of Ground Support Equipment, is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join our team. Do you have hands-on experience implementing industrial automation, cobots, robotic welding, and CNC machining automation? Are you interested in applying AI-enabled tools and modern automation technologies to drive measurable improvements in safety, quality, throughput, and cost? This position offers a direct opportunity to make a meaningful operational impact.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, a track record of successful automation deployments in a fabrication environment, solid professional references, and long-term tenure with prior employers.

  • Analyze existing manual fabrication, welding, and CNC machining processes to identify and justify automation opportunities.
  • Design, specify, and implement automation solutions, including robotic welding cells, cobots, CNC tending, material handling, and custom fixturing.
  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes to support automated production, repeatability, and scalability.
  • Create and validate process simulations, layouts, and cycle-time models to optimize automated systems prior to deployment.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and integration of automated systems within existing shop-floor infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, controls, and process-related issues on automated equipment.
  • Monitor system performance and support the development of preventive maintenance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Create detailed technical documentation, including system designs, risk assessments, operating procedures, and training materials.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams to ensure automation aligns with production and business requirements.
  • Travel as required for vendor engagement, site visits, inspections, and functional testing.
  • Contribute to ongoing continuous improvement efforts across manufacturing, engineering, and design functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing industrial automation solutions in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience deploying robotic welding cells, collaborative robots (cobots), CNC machine automation/tending, and material handling systems.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication, welding, and CNC machining processes and how to automate them safely and effectively.
  • Experience designing automation solutions including equipment selection, tooling, fixturing, layouts, and process flow.
  • Proficiency with PLCs, industrial controls, sensors, vision systems, and automation safety systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, and process-related issues on automated equipment.
  • Experience supporting system installation, commissioning, and integration into existing production environments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to justify automation projects using ROI, throughput, labor savings, quality, and safety metrics.
  • Experience creating technical documentation including system designs, process documentation, operating procedures, risk assessments, and training materials.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.
  • Willingness to travel as required for vendor engagement, site visits, inspections, and testing.
