Salary Range: $47,000 – $50,000


Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast is seeking an outgoing, experienced Human Services or Education professional with a passion for working with youth in Bradenton in the role of Mentor Manager.

BBBS Sun Coast is an Agency that promotes the mentoring relationships between Bigs and Littles for the purpose of igniting the potential in each child served in our footprint of 10 counties in Southwest Florida.

The primary responsibility of this position is organizing, facilitating, and delivering engaging youth development workshops and activities within school and community-based settings across the footprint, with this role being specific to the communities of Manatee County. This position supports the successful implementation of Big Brothers Big Sisters approved curriculum and enrichment programming, including but not limited to Resilient Youth programming, workforce development, career exploration, leadership development, and supporting positive youth development, health and wellness activities.
Ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in social or human services, education, or similar field of study; or a combination of education and experience; or 4 years of relevant work experience in a related field. Ideal candidate lives in the Manatee Cty area to best service our initiatives in those areas.
Ability to fluently communicate in Spanish is a plus.
This role is required to report to the Bradenton office when not in the field at offsite partner locations.
What are the key duties of the role?
Workshop Facilitation amp; Curriculum Delivery
  • Facilitate engaging, age-appropriate workshops and group activities for youth in school and community settings.
  • Deliver Big Brothers Big Sisters approved curriculum and structured programming with fidelity and enthusiasm.
  • Teach / Lead mentoring workshops related to:
    • Resilient Youth programming
    • Workforce development and employability skills
    • Career exploration and post-secondary readiness
    • Leadership development
    • Mentoring and relationship-building skills
    • General youth enrichment and life skills topics
  • Adapt facilitation style and activities to meet the developmental, cultural, and educational needs of participants.
  • Create positive and supportive learning environments that encourage participation, confidence, and self-expression.
Program Coordination amp; Organization
  • Coordinate workshop schedules with schools, site contacts, volunteers, and agency staff.
  • Initiate, launch, and continually facilitate site-based programs; in addition to the outreach, interviewing, assessing, matching, and supporting services for students participating and seeking a mentor.
  • Prepare materials, supplies, technology, handouts, and presentation resources needed for programming.
  • Assist with organizing special events, enrichment opportunities, career panels, guest speakers, and youth engagement activities.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records, participation data, surveys, and required documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by collecting participant feedback and assisting with outcome measurement activities.
  • Support a flexible schedule to meet the demands of the position which may include occasional evenings and weekends.
Youth Engagement amp; Relationship Building
  • Build positive relationships with youth, school personnel, volunteers, and community partners.
  • Inspire students and volunteers to actively participate and engage in mentoring and youth development opportunities.
  • Provide encouragement, redirection, and appropriate behavioral support during workshops and activities.
  • Identify and communicate participant concerns, barriers, or support needs to supervisory staff in accordance with agency policies.
  • Serve as a positive role model and ambassador for the agency mission.
Match Development and Management
  • Conduct interviews based on inquiries and applications from parent/guardians and potential volunteers per agency standards.
  • Completes interview assessments of volunteers, children, and parent/guardians to determine program eligibility and readiness for matching, including the type of match preferred.
  • Uphold the data collection, input, and reporting requirements monthly, quarterly, and annually; including Match Support Contact (MSC), Youth Outcome Development Plan (YODP), and Strength of Relationship (SOR).
Safety, Compliance amp; Professional Standards
  • Ensure all programming follows Big Brothers Big Sisters safety standards, youth protection policies, and organizational procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with youth and families.
  • Adhere to school-site procedures, district expectations, and agency operational guidelines.
  • Participate in required trainings, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Uphold BBBSA and agency Standards of Practice related to volunteer screening, enrollment, matching, and match support by delivering engaging, positive, and personalized interactions that promote long-term program participation
