SCOPE OF WORK:
The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the research, development, design, testing, and documentation of Aspen Avionics mechanical and structural components.
JOB DUTIES:
  • Research, develop, design, test, and document mechanical structures/components.
  • Maintain and improve existing mechanical, electromechanical components, equipment, and system designs for integration.
  • Apply sound mechanical engineering principles and techniques.
  • Plan, perform, and direct engineering activities to ensure the design, integration, and testing conform to mechanical design specifications and requirements
  • Produce engineering documentation, manufacturing documentation, reports, drawings, diagrams.
  • Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluations or analysis Perform other duties as requested Engineering Leadership.

PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree (BSME), required or equivalent.
โ€ข 7-10 years of Mechanical Design Experience
โ€ข Produce Mechanical designs that meet program requirements.
โ€ข Document designs for Manufacturing.
โ€ข Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
โ€ข Ability to perform Thermal Analysis.
โ€ข Ability to perform Structural Analysis.
โ€ข Knowledgeable in Material composition and properties.
โ€ข Design for Manufacturing.
โ€ข Generation of documentation.
โ€ข Ability to demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
โ€ข Provides accurate and timely status on progress of assigned tasks.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
โ€ข Knowledgeable in SolidWorks CAD
โ€ข Experience with the fundamentals of Avionics installation and design.
โ€ข Demonstrated experience designing and analyzing ruggedized avionics enclosures compliant with DO-160 standards.
โ€ข Proven track record in mechanical-to-electrical integration of PCBAs, flex circuits, and thermal interfaces.
โ€ข Hands-on experience aligning mechanical architectures with DO-178 and DO-254 safety requirements.
โ€ข Documented history of leading full-lifecycle execution from prototype build through qualification testing and delivery.
โ€ข Proficiency in Microsoft office suite.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

โ€ข Lifting up to 50 pounds in a safe and prudent manner.
โ€ข Ability to easily move through an approximately 45,000 square foot warehouse building.
โ€ข Ability to read, write, and understand English.

โ€ข Ability to have manual dexterity of both hands.
โ€ข Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
โ€ข Correctable vision and hearing.
