Optical Manager, Non-Licensed

We are looking for an Optical Manager to join our Optical team.
As part of a fast-paced, dynamic team, you will perform all the duties of a dispensing optician in addition to managerial duties, interacting with customers, confirming appointments, reviewing insurance information and overseeing store upkeep, while serving as the liaison between our customers and the lab to ensure orders are processed timely. Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience by providing outstanding service, overseeing appointment scheduling, answering incoming calls, and ensuring every customer interaction reflects Boscov's commitment to quality and care.
  • Accurately interpret prescriptions, perform optical measurements, verify prescriptions using a lensometer, dispense eyewear, complete fittings and adjustments, and process customer orders from sale through delivery.
  • Lead, coach, and develop store associates to achieve sales goals, deliver exceptional customer service, and maintain operational excellence.
  • Oversee daily store operations, including scheduling, workflow, order management, inventory support, and ensuring timely communication with customers regarding order status.
  • Process and verify third-party vision insurance benefits and claims while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, HIPAA regulations, and confidentiality standards when handling patient information.
  • Manage opening and closing procedures, cash handling, point-of-sale transactions, and daily financial reconciliation to ensure operational accuracy.
  • Partner with the Director of Optical Services to drive business performance, address operational and maintenance needs, support associate development, and foster strong relationships with independent doctors and Boscov's store leadership.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing optical department that supports outstanding customer experience and reflects Boscov's brand standards.

Job Requirements
  • 2+ years of management experience in retail, with a drive for results and a proven track record in reaching goals
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Strong skills in supervising others and mentoring them to generate customer satisfaction and sales
  • Able to use computer systems for sales, ordering and timekeeping
  • Polished customer service skills and a genuine ability to understand your patients' needs
  • Capable of resolving customer complaints, if they arise, with tact and positive outcomes
  • Must be reliable and punctual in attendance to keep store hours and coverage in the store
  • An interest in fashion eyewear and an eye for style is highly desired
  • Must be flexible for scheduling and able to work weekends and holidays, as well as special sales events
  • Position is active and includes moving about throughout department during the shift
