Job Title:Director - Histocompatibility LabDepartment:Ross | Heart Hospital Administration

SCOPE OF POSITION
Individual is responsible for histocompatibility laboratory compliance with regulatory and accreditation agency standards, quality assurance, development of laboratory processes, clinical protocols and budget preparation and monitoring. The histocompatibility laboratory operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides services to University Hospital, Ross Heart Hospital, The James Cancer Center, Nationwide Children's Hospital and Lifeline of Ohio Organ Procurement Organization.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of the histocompatibility laboratory reports directly to the Administrative Director of the Comprehensive Transplant Center for business related activities and routinely collaborates with the Clinical Consultant for the histocompatibility laboratory. This individual is responsible for the overall management of the histocompatibility laboratory, the quality of operations and services provided by the histocompatibility laboratory, including the responsibility for reviewing and overseeing all technical aspects of the laboratory. This individual directs technological staff and works closely with attending physicians and fellows in both solid organ and bone marrow transplantation in the design, implementation and review of all technical processes that involve the histocompatibility laboratory. This individual is responsible for personnel management and ensuring customer service, development, implementation and monitoring of testing, staff training and evaluation and budget management. The Director also represents The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center at local, regional and national levels as a liaison between the medical center and the various laboratory and transplant related organizations, agencies and professional organizations.

Minimum Education Required
Doctorate (Professional)

Required Qualifications
-Must hold a PhD in Biology or a field related to immunology
-Must hold certification as an HLA Histocompatibility Lab director (as defined by the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics by a board approved by Health and Human Services (HHS))
-Must maintain Clinical Histocompatibility Diplomate status (D-ABHI) conferred by the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics
