Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Director, IT Data Technologies, will lead our data technology platform. This role will be a
hybrid work model located in our corporate office in Dublin, CA &, and will report to the Sr.
Director, IT Enterprise Data Technology.
The ideal candidate will be a thought leader for the direction of Ross' data & analytics solution
strategy and architecture. The candidate should have a proven track record in selecting &
implementing modern cloud analytics capabilities with a focus on business value & efficiency.
They will bring a well-rounded leadership perspective, capable of building, guiding, and inspiring
a growing team of data platform engineering & analytics professionals. They will have
experience in migrating from on-premises EDW appliances and platforms to cloud-based lake house architectures & platforms. They will have a strategic mind and operate as a leader who
influences IT strategy.
The resource will own all data platforms & tools for transformation, orchestration, observability,
cost control & management (FinOps), and advanced analytics (MLOps). They will be responsible
for the entire data estate, including the data lake, data warehouse, and data platforms.
The right resource will lead the team in exploring new solutions, including data science & ML,
solving complex technical issues, identifying efficiencies, and building proof of concepts as
required.
The base salary range for this role is $137,400 - $259,050. The base salary range is
dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant
education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of
the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and
location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Owns and directs the Data platform engineering organization. Foster a customer-centric
culture and mindset and drive a future-state data platform architecture for the company.
• Be a trusted advisor who builds and maintains relationships with other technical leaders and
IT executives to develop a keen understanding of business needs; ensures efficient delivery
of IT services to meet those needs.
• Build & manage a futuristic data platform architecture, modernize data & analytics
platforms to support new, strategic data capabilities.
• Help evolve the data technology organization to adopt Agile methods & DevOps
• Determine the future skills needed in the data technologies space and build a team to realize
that future. Resources will need to have the appropriate mix of strong technical knowledge,
business knowledge, and competencies that balance between growing agility and ensuring
that core IT functions are reliable, stable, and efficient.

• Build a deep bench of team leadership and technical talent to deliver results and support

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• At least 15 years of relevant technical experience, including 7+ years in a leadership role,
5-10 years working in IT Data & Analytics, progressively gaining leadership
responsibilities, building diverse teams with collaborative and innovative cultures, with
deep familiarity in data engineering and analytics, delivering analytics solutions.
• 2+ years of implementation & production experience with cloud-native data & analytics
platforms (Snowflake or equivalent).
• Knowledge and expertise with selecting, implementing, modernizing & scaling all aspects
of a data & analytics technology ecosystem: BI Analytics & Data Science/ML, Data
Governance & self-service catalog, Data Pipelines, and Data Lake-House & ETL.
• Experience working with Enterprise Architecture to ensure that the Data Technologies
portfolio strategy and vision is consistent with the overall strategy and vision for IT.
• Knowledge of data modeling & curation for a variety of analytics use cases ranging from
historical analysis to intra-day operational, predictive, statistical analysis across the
lifecycle (ad-hoc, prototyping, departmental, industrialized)
• Track record for leading multi-year, cross-functional & transformational IT initiatives,
including moving platforms to the cloud, implementing analytics tooling.
• Track record for leading, growing & maturing a team of data & analytics professionals.

• Success in using standard delivery methodologies, such as Waterfall and Agile.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-moving technology landscape and keep pace with the latest
thinking and new technologies.
• Demonstrable ability to formulate a high-level strategy, then convert it into a tactical plan
and execute on that plan.
• "Hands-on" operating style and approach, but a view towards the future and willingness to
invest in people development and in developing an organization that will support a large
company.
• Superb communication skills, the ability to foster a supportive and inclusive team culture.
• Bachelor's degree, with a major in computer science, information systems management,
mathematics, or a closely related field.
• Ability to influence at all levels of the organization and the capability to work independently
with minimal guidance. Strong organization and prioritization skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively present
technical topics to wide-ranging groups (engineering/architecture to sr. executive)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
The job requires the ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person
meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction,
meetings and collaboration, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can
