Job Summary
Within BJ's global transportation-based logistics system, responsible for
(1) management of BJ's global C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) compliance
(2) management of BJ's yearly ISA (Importer Self-Assessment) with CBP (Customs Border Protection).
(3) Oversight of the development and maintaining of product pre-classification policies in conjunction with U.S. Customs mandates and assurance of the use of due diligence
(4) oversight of BJ's U.S. Customs affairs involving product duty-valuation and origin country verification
(5) oversight of government agency regulations requisite to customs clearance, including the Food & Drug Administration, Fish and Wildlife Administration, Federal Communications Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Agriculture, USDA and Department of Transportation along with all document controls and record retention
(6) providing leadership and guidance on Customs educational programs and awareness training to ensure corporate wide understanding of government regulations to promote optimum compliance
(7) Management of BJ's duty mitigation program
(8) Reconciliation of monthly CBP ACH duty payment
(9) Provide functional guidance to B2B Team and assist with export compliance and logistic services as required
(10) Support Director of International Transportation with Ocean Freight Logistics, Freight Forwarder management
(11) Will have 1 Direct Reports and several Indirect Reports
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
30% - Manage and coordinate all U.S. government regulatory import mandates, in concert with brokers, buyers, suppliers, and legal counsel, to ensure compliance within the vital areas of product classification, duty-valuation, and origin country verification. Including record retention, ACH reconciliation
30% - Manage and coordinate the duty mitigation programs (mDDP & First Sale), including the vetting of appropriate vendors and products
15% - Facilitate oversight of BJ's import audits (ISA) and external regulatory agency requirements, along with ensuring record retention and document controls meet all standards all international activities. Management of C-TPAT program among global transportation partners, foreign suppliers, BJ's team members and U.S Customs to ensure corporate certification goals are achieved and maintained.
10% - Provide leadership and guidance on Customs and other Government Agencies (OGA) educational programs to promote optimum government compliance. Monitor renewal of Bond insurance certificates, Customs broker power of attorney, and OGA licenses
15% - Manage the export compliance in conjunction with and support of B2B initiatives
Education:
Minimum Education - College Degree, Business
Preferred Education - Masters / Compliance
Experience:
Minimum - 3-5 years International Compliance in a retail or manufacturing environment
Preferred - 5-10 years in retail environment handling Customs as well as OGA
This is a hybrid role. Tuesday through Thursday are in-office days at BJ's Club Support Center in Marlborough, MA and Monday and Friday are remote days.
In accordance with the Pay Transparency requirements, the following represents a good faith estimate of the compensation range for this position. At BJ's Wholesale Club, we carefully consider a wide range of non-discriminatory factors when determining salary. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, education, experience, and qualifications. The pay range for this position is $115,000.00 - $146,000.00
