We are seeking a Specialist, Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to act as a strategic advisor across the organization, supporting the advancement of a robust, enterprise-wide risk management framework. This role partners closely with business leaders to enable risk-informed decision-making and strengthen organizational resilience. In this position, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and continuously improving ERM practices, while supporting senior leadership and governance bodies with risk insights and reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in business, finance, risk management, or a related field

  • Strong knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management principles, frameworks, and methodologies (e.g., COSO, ISO 31000)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, influence stakeholders, and build strong cross-functional relationships

  • Proven ability to communicate complex risk concepts to diverse audiences, including senior leadership

  • Experience working in oil & gas, energy, or heavy industrial/manufacturing environments

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate risk insights into actionable recommendations

  • Experience supporting board-level reporting and senior governance forums is strongly preferred

Responsibilities:
  • Act as a strategic business partner across all functional areas, providing operational, financial, and risk management expertise.

  • Lead initiatives to embed consistent enterprise risk practices, improve processes, and drive a culture of risk awareness and accountability.

  • Provide enterprise-level risk guidance and advisory support to business leaders to enable effective risk identification, assessment, and decision-making

  • Influence and support organizational change through effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement across all levels.

  • Contribute to the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of ERM frameworks, tools, and methodologies

  • Monitor and evaluate emerging risks, trends, and external factors, and provide insights to inform business strategy and planning.

  • Facilitate cross-functional risk assessments and support the development of risk registers, key risk indicators, and mitigation strategies.

  • Coordinate enterprise risk management activities

  • Supports governance processes by preparing and delivering risk reports for the Executive Leadership Team and assisting with reports and presentations for the Board of Directors and governance committees.

  • Location: This is an office-based role.You will work out of our Calgary head office,locatedin the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 - 6th Ave S.W

  • Hours of work are a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
