  • Coordinate preventive and reactive maintenance across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, process water, pneumatics, HEPA units, humidification, fork and lift-truck assets, dock equipment, lighting, and building envelope.

  • Respond to and triage daily service requests from site staff; assign to internal resources or external trades.

  • Perform non-certified handyman tasks: minor repairs, mounting, patching, fixture replacement, and furniture moves. Along with short term response for outdoor activities like snow shoveling between contracted operations.

  • Tune environmental setpoints (temperature, humidity, lux levels) for manufacturing and lab spaces.

Contractor & Vendor Coordination

  • Source, schedule, and supervise external trades (HVAC, electrical, painters, dock/door, cleaning, landscaping, snow removal, etc.).

  • Support EHS in site inspections, incident response, and corrective actions.

  • Administer the CCure building access system: provisioning, de-provisioning, audits, and reporting.

Supervision

  • Direct the on-site cleaning team: schedules, quality audits, supply ordering, and escalations.

  • Coordinate outsourced trades acting as an extended workforce on site.

  • Provide first-line direction, feedback, and performance input to direct reports.

  • Escalate issues to Facilities Project Manager/Facilities Manager as needed.

Project Support

  • Support the Facilities Project Manager on capital and tenant projects (HVAC build-outs, cafeteria refresh, dock equipment, lighting upgrades).

  • Coordinate site logistics, contractor access, and minor commissioning activities.

  • Maintain facilities documentation: drawings, equipment lists, manuals, and warranty records.

Administration

  • Manage facilities-related purchasing, POs, and invoice approvals within delegated authority.

  • Coordinate fleet/vehicle bookings and tools/equipment usage by other groups.

  • Maintain records for audits and management reporting.

What You Need

  • Five or more years in a facilities, maintenance, or building operations role, with at least two years supervising staff and/or contractors.

  • Working knowledge of building systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, security, and access control.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple trades and managing contractor compliance (WSIB, insurance, safety).

  • Strong hands-on aptitude for minor repairs and general handyman work.

  • Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams) and computerized maintenance / access control systems.

  • Strong communication, organization, and prioritization skills.

  • Ability to respond to after-hours building issues on call as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or trade certification (Building Environmental Systems, Facility Management, skilled trade, or equivalent experience).

  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing or cleanroom environment.

  • Familiarity with CCure (or comparable access control), BAS/BMS systems, and CMMS tools.

  • Project coordination experience on capital or tenant fit-out projects.
