Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) / Infection Prevention & Wound Care – Registered Nurse (RN)

Join Our Leadership Team

Haven of Champaign is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our nursing leadership team as our Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON). This leadership role works closely with the Director of Nursing to oversee clinical operations while also serving as the facility's Infection Preventionist and providing oversight of our Wound Care Program.

This is an excellent opportunity for an RN leader who is passionate about quality outcomes, regulatory compliance, staff development, and delivering exceptional resident-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

As the Assistant Director of Nursing, you will:

  • Partner with the Director of Nursing to oversee the daily operations of the nursing department.

  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing services while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and facility regulations.

  • Serve as the facility's Infection Preventionist, developing, implementing, and monitoring the Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with CMS and CDC guidelines.

  • Conduct infection surveillance, investigate trends, educate staff, and lead infection prevention initiatives to reduce healthcare-associated infections.

  • Coordinate employee infection control education and ensure compliance with infection prevention policies and procedures.

  • Oversee the facility's Wound Care Program, including wound assessments, treatment recommendations, documentation, and monitoring resident progress.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize wound healing and resident outcomes.

  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities, analyzing clinical data and implementing performance improvement initiatives.

  • Assist with survey preparation and maintain ongoing state and federal survey readiness.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, education, and mentorship to nursing staff to promote clinical excellence and professional development.

  • Monitor clinical documentation, resident care plans, and nursing practices to ensure quality outcomes.

  • Support resident admissions, discharges, and care coordination.

  • Assist with staffing oversight and nursing department operations as needed.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment focused on resident-centered care, accountability, and teamwork.

Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois (required).

  • Previous experience in a skilled nursing or long-term care setting required.

  • Previous nursing leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Experience in infection prevention, wound care, or quality improvement preferred.

  • Wound Care Certification (WCC) and/or Infection Prevention certification (IPCO, CIC, or willingness to obtain) is preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of CMS regulations, infection prevention standards, and long-term care practices.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.

  • Passion for mentoring staff and delivering exceptional resident care.
