Job description

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Nursing Quality Manager, completes routine tasks and duties under the direct supervision of the physician, registered nurse and Sterile Processing Department/Endoscopy Lead Tech. Cleans, prepares, assembles, sterilizes, distributes and ensures the quality of all surgical instruments and specific medical equipment. Inventory, issue and replenish medical supplies, instruments and equipment in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) and Endoscopy areas. Transport supplies, equipment, and potentially hazardous waste within the facility. Assists with the training of new SPD/Endoscopy Techs.

Qualifications Requirements:

Minimum Education / Training / Licensure / Certifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Central Supply Technician certification training course.
  • Current BLS certification.

Minimum Experience:

  • One (1) year experience in the surgery or ambulatory surgery center (ASC) or related experience.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).

ย Preferred Education / Training / Licensure / Certifications:

  • One (1) year experience in the surgery or ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in a endoscopy, hospital or ASC setting.
  • One (1) year experience working in and SPD.
  • One (1) year experience working as an Endoscopy Technician.

  • Processes scopes used in procedure.
  • Collect tissue specimen under the direction of the physician/nurse utilizing the following modalities: Fulguration: Electrocautery equipment, heater probe or Bicap; Snare technique for retrieval/collection of polys; Helicobacter samples on Clotest medica; Biopsy;
  • Responsible for the preparation and clean-up of procedure.
  • Cleans and disinfects scopes and accessories in a timely manner following infection control and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Responsible for workplace, accountability and inventory.
  • Orders and maintains inventory of supplies used and needs.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients.
  • Demonstrates competency in area of specialization.
