Job description

Job Title: Maintenance Director – Skilled Nursing Facility
Location: Fairhope, Alabama
Facility: Altera Health and Rehabilitation

Altera Health and Rehabilitation is hiring a Maintenance Director to oversee all facility maintenance operations at our skilled nursing facility in Fairhope, Alabama.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for ensuring the building, equipment, and grounds are safe, compliant, and operating at a high level. We are looking for someone who understands healthcare environments and takes ownership of their building.


Responsibilities

• Oversee daily maintenance operations including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs
• Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and life safety regulations (including Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and National Fire Protection Association standards)
• Maintain preventative maintenance programs and required documentation/logs
• Conduct routine inspections of the building, systems, and grounds
• Manage maintenance staff and coordinate with outside vendors
• Respond to work orders and urgent maintenance needs quickly and efficiently
• Support facility readiness for state surveys and inspections
• Ensure a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors


Qualifications

• Experience as a Maintenance Director in a skilled nursing facility, assisted living, hospital, or similar healthcare setting preferred
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems
• Understanding of Life Safety Code and regulatory compliance in healthcare
• Ability to lead a team and manage multiple priorities
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Experience preparing for or participating in surveys is a plus
