Job description

Position Summary:

Under the leadership of the VP of Human Services, Environmental Services is an active member of the CRHS management team that works to implement the strategic vision, goals, philosophy and direction of the enterprise. The Director is responsible for the daily operations of Environmental Services. The Director implements strategic and tactical environmental services-related goals and objectives. The Director provides leadership and guidance to supervisors and subordinate employees. The Director functions at a variety of levels and provides analysis, reporting and management decision-making as well as direct hands-on work. The Manager provides reports concerning department volume, performance and quality trends.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in Management is preferred or related field.

  • Experience:

Requires a level of experience normally acquired with a minimum of three to five years of progressively more responsible work, management and leadership experience within a healthcare Facilities Management & Environmental Services work environment or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

  • Licensure, Registrations & Certifications:

A Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional designation is preferred.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Director subordinate Environmental Services supervisors and staff.
  • Implements Environmental Services and CRHS’s vision and goals into actionable plans and directions related to the operation of Environmental Services.
  • Works with the Director, Facilities Management & Environmental Services to develop, update and implement the Environmental Services’ strategic and annual plans.
  • Implements both short and long-term goals for Environmental Services and prepares corresponding strategic and annual financial plans and ensures budget variances are within acceptable limits.
  • Provides overall management, development and evaluations for the Management & Environmental Services’ staff.
  • Directs the timeliness and quality of the services provided by Environmental Services.
  • Ensures that departmental quality, satisfaction and regulatory compliance standards are consistently either met or exceeded.
  • Manages monthly operating financials for Environmental Services and works with the Director to develop proactive remedial actions when necessary.
  • Improve the quality and timeliness of Environmental Services provided through the department or its contractors.
  • Implements and manages all Environmental Services-related policies and procedures and ensures their compliance.
  • Ensures CRHS’s physical plant is clean for all patients, guest and staff. Develops corrective plans to address identified deficiencies.
  • Participates in the Infection Control Committee and serves other committees as requested.
  • Ensures staff participation in staff development and regularly schedules in-service programs.
  • Provides new employees with an orientation specific to Environmental Services.
  • Prepares and conducts probationary and annual employee evaluations that accurately reflect the employee’s performance during the evaluation period. Provides the employees with a summary of their strengths, areas for improvement and developmental plan for the future.
  • Utilizes technology to analyze and develop statistical measures of Environmental Services’ performance metrics, reports, and programs.
  • Ensures the continuous survey readiness of any and all regulatory agencies including Joint Commission, EEOC and other governmental agencies.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
