Lead the Future of Athletics & Human Performance at Kamehameha Schools
Kamehameha Schools, Hawaii Campus is seeking an experienced, visionary, and student-centered leader to direct our Athletics and Human Performance program. This highly visible leadership role is responsible for shaping and advancing an athletic experience that promotes student achievement, wellness, leadership, teamwork, and lifelong healthy living through interscholastic athletics, extracurricular sports, and innovative human performance initiatives.
As athletics continues to become a more integral component of student learning and development, the successful candidate will bring creativity, energy, and strategic mindset to reimagine the role of athletics within the KSH educational experience, championing these programs and ensuring that athletic participation complements and enhances learning and personal growth.

Job Summary
Responsible for directing the organization and administration of the Kamehameha Schools Campus athletic and human performance program.Leads, coordinates, and collaborates with students, parents, faculty, and staff to ensure campus-wide goals are achieved with respect to athletics and human performance programsat theK-12 level,including interscholastic athletics and other internal and external athletic programs.Cultivates and fosters an environment where students' athletic and academic achievement, social and emotional development, civic engagement, andequitableopportunity isbolstered and enhanced through effective communication and leadership. Provides students with the opportunity to participate in an extra-curricular athletic activity at all levels that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of the pleasure of sport, the principles of play, and satisfaction of being part of a team.
Essential Responsibilities
Builds a culture of healthy living, physical activity and fitness amongst students by designing, developing, implementing and maintaining a K-12 aligned comprehensive human performance program that provides opportunities for students at all levels to improve their performance and reduce their risk of injury in a dynamic and fun environment. This may include, but is not limited to, strength and conditioning, agility, speed and quickness, nutrition, and injury prevention.
Designs, develops, and oversees the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive extracurricular athletics program that is aligned from a K-12 perspective to develop athletic ability and skillswhile fostering collaboration, teamwork, and sportsmanship.This may include, but is not limited to, intramurals,youth sports programs, and other non-interscholastic athleticprograms.
Ensures the smooth operation of interscholastic athletic programs,including scheduling, compliance with applicable athletic rules, regulations, and policies, fundraising, risk management, team travel and transportation, facility scheduling, and the procurement of athletic supplies, equipment, and uniforms.
Oversees athletic participation and eligibility processes, including tryout rosters, student eligibility verification, participant and sanction forms, academic monitoring, and injury-management documentation;works closelywith counselorsand teachersto support student success and well-being.
Serves as an active participant and representative in athletic conferences, leagues, and associations, serving as a sport coordinator as assigned. Responsible for developing schedules, conducting preseason and postseason evaluation meetings, securing facilities and officials, addressing sport appeals and rule interpretations, and serving as a liaison among coaches, media, and officials.Represents the campus at Athletic Director and Executive Board meetings asdesignatedby campus leadership.May develop policy, serve on executive committees within athletic and professional associations, andassistwith conference, regional, and state athletic events andtournaments.
Provides recommendations of athletic division staff changes to Head of School, as well as provides supervision during practices and competitions. Monitors progress of all coaches and athletes. Meets weekly with head coaches to keep abreast of issues. Facilitates meetings with parents/coaches as needed. Coordinates preseason and evaluation meetings for all sports. Collaborates with coaches to address preseason, season, and postseason demands. Independently evaluates or participates in evaluation of coaches and staff. Works closely with team head coaches, advisors and trainers.
Attends athletic and extracurricular activity events to support coaches, advisors and students. Provide administrative coverage at home and away events to manage risk. Works to develop rapport with parents, alumni, and the community. Ensures home events are properly supervised and supported. Coordinates ticket takers, volunteers, visitor support, concession support, gate collection, cleanup, and risk management. Coordinates with Athletic Trainer for proper coverage of all athletic events.
Develops and manages authorized athletics budget and long-range athletic department plans. Monitors approved budget by updating expenditures, reconciling account balances, and providing monthly account reports for supervisor's review. Responsible for maintaining appropriate budgetary records and account files and ensuring timely submission of payroll timesheets. Works with coaches and athletic representatives to adhere to KS established financial and purchasing procedures. Provides general accounting services, which includes reviewing a variety of forms and attachments to ensure compliance with operating policies and procedures and verifying account numbers and object codes. Prepares and solicits bids for athletic department needs. Coordinates purchases for the athletic department and schedules delivery of merchandise. Responsible for implementing procedures for inventory management associated with athletic supplies and equipment.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Position Requirements
Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
Master's Degree.
Minimum of 5 years of directly related athletic or school-related activity administration experience as well as coaching and/or adviser experience.
Experience managing, mentoring and directing a large staff of regular and temporary staff.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to relate effectively with a variety of individuals to include students, coaches, other KS staff, physicians, parents, teachers, administrators, media personnel, alumni, etc. Skilled in conflict resolution.
Knowledge of NFHS rules and applicable athletic league and state association regulations (e.g., HHSAA).
Ability to work flexible hours to include evenings and weekends on a regular basis as well as off-island travel.
Working knowledge of budget development and administration.
Preferred Qualifications
Certification in Athletic Administration.
Five years as Head Coach in a major sport or Director of major Student Activity (e.g. Drama, Band).
Familiarity with employment and personnel laws.
Knowledge of and sensitivity with Hawaiian culture and Christian values.
Physical Requirements
Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions
This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours but evening and weekend hours are often required to meet goals and objectives.
