Job description

## Director of Platform & Agent OperationsApplylocations: United States - Remotetime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: R69460**Job Summary:**eQuip is hiring a Director of Platform & Agent Operations to own the autonomous and AI-augmented systems that increasingly run the work of all team members. This is a hands-on technical leadership role for someone who builds, directs, and operates AI rather than merely supervising people who do. The successful candidate will be measured on the work their AI systems complete - not on credentials, pedigree, or years served.**Job Description:**Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, the Director of Platform & Agent Operations leads the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of the platforms and autonomous agents that perform real work across eQuip - from engineering and delivery to customer support and internal operations. You will spend your days directing AI to do work, diagnosing and fixing AI processes when they drift or fail, and engineering systems in which AI agents complete multi-step work with little or no human input.Key Responsibilities:* Autonomous System Design: Architect, build, and operate AI agents and multi-agent workflows that complete real work - code, documentation, data analysis, ticket triage, customer responses - with limited or no human direction. Move systems progressively up the autonomy ladder from assisted to supervised to fully autonomous.* Directing AI: Act as the primary operator who tasks, steers, and supervises AI assistants and agents day to day. Decompose ambiguous business goals into instructions, context, and tool definitions that AI can reliably execute.* Fixing AI Processes: Diagnose and remediate failing or drifting AI workflows - hallucination, tool-use errors, context loss, runaway cost, unsafe output. Own the on-call posture for agent systems the way a platform team owns production services.* Context Engineering: Design and maintain the context systems - instructions, retrieved knowledge, memory, tool schemas, and guardrails - that give agents domain expertise and keep them reliable and safe in production.* Evaluation & Observability: Build the eval harnesses, metrics, and monitoring that prove an agent works before it ships and catch regressions after. Define what “good” looks like for each workflow and instrument it.* Platform Ownership: Own the underlying platform - model access, orchestration frameworks, MCP integrations, deployment pipelines, and cost controls - that agent systems run on. Integrate with existing tooling (Monday.com, HubSpot, GitHub, Azure).* Tooling & Integration: Connect agents to the systems where work actually happens via APIs, Model Context Protocol servers, and custom tools, so that autonomous work flows into real business outcomes.* Governance & Safety: Implement and enforce AI acceptable-use, security, and compliance controls (including CUI/CMMC-aligned practices) across all agent and AI-assisted workflows.* Enablement & Mentorship: Raise the AI fluency of all team members - sharing patterns for prompting, context engineering, agent design, and eval literacy so teams can safely operate their own AI.* Offshore Team Enablement: Train and support eQuip's offshore team, who will serve as operators of our AI systems. Teach them how to use the different AI tools, agents, and processes that power their work, and build the documentation, runbooks, and guardrails that let them operate those systems reliably and safely.* Cross-Functional Delivery: Partner with Engineering, Customer Support, and portfolio leadership to identify the highest-leverage processes to automate and to measure the business impact of the systems you deploy.Preferred skills:* Experience building production agent systems with the Anthropic SDK, OpenAI Agents, LangGraph, or similar frameworks.* Experience standing up Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers and integrating agents with business systems (examples: Monday.com, HubSpot, GitHub, Azure DevOps).* Background in full-stack or platform engineering, MLOps, or production observability for AI systems.* AI cost optimization, guardrail/safety design, and computer-use or browser-automation deployment.* Experience in regulated or defense environments, including CUI handling and CMMC-aligned practices.* Prior experience leading or mentoring a team, or building enablement programs for AI adoption.* Relevant agentic AI certifications (a plus, not a requirement) #J-18808-Ljbffr
