Job description

Full Time MAG - MP Magnetics LLC, Fort Worth, TX, US

Company Overview:

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.

We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.

We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.

Position Overview:

The Fixed Asset Manager is a key Finance role embedded onsite within Operations to ensure real-time visibility, accuracy, and compliance over capital projects and Fixed Asset activities. While the position reports directly to Finance, it partners closely with Operations leadership, project managers, and site teams to ensure proper authorization, tracking, documentation, and capitalization of project and asset costs.

This role manages the Fixed Asset team in close collaboration with the Fixed Asset Manager in the Finance area and serves as the primary connection between Finance’s control environment and Operations’ execution environment. The position plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity, improving processes, strengthening SOX controls, and ensuring accurate and timely capitalization within a fastmoving operational setting. This role will be located on-site at our Fort Worth, Texas location.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Build strong cross functional partnerships with Operations, Engineering, Project Management, and site leadership.
  • Identify and implement improvements to Fixed Asset processes across Finance and Operations.
  • Oversee the tracking, compiling, and recording of project costs and ensure accurate and timely asset capitalization upon project completion.
  • Manage routine Fixed Asset observations, ensuring ghost assets are identified and properly disposed.
  • Monitor project and asset spend against capital budgets and communicate variances and insights to Finance and Operations leaders.
  • Strengthen internal controls over project authorization, documentation, and spend approval in a SOX compliant environment.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures for project and asset accounting.
  • Lead and direct the Fixed Asset Team, providing oversight, coaching, and performance management.
  • Lead the preparation of Fixed Asset schedules for monthly close and financial reporting.
  • Review ARO calculations and track applicable asset costs.
  • Manage reconciliation of Fixed Asset accounts and preparation of roll forward schedules.
  • Oversee depreciation runs, asset disposals, and project closeout activities.
  • Support enterprise initiatives, reporting needs, and system/process enhancements.
  • Maintain compliance with company reporting and documentation standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in fixed asset accounting, asset management, or related fields, including at least 2 years in leadership or managerial role.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Desired Qualities:

  • Excellent leadership, people management, communication and influencing skills.
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of Fixed Asset accounting and general accounting practices.
  • Ability to manage, collaborate with, and influence key stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of optimization techniques and process improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrates business strategy in day-to-day operations and delivery.
  • Proven ability to drive for result and accountability of business needs.
  • Solid, proven, and verifiable record of career stability and project management success.
  • Demonstrates decisiveness in resolving business problems, making decisions, and identifying priorities.
