About the Role

The Processing Manager (PM) coordinates the movement of large-scale inputs and outputs through Blue Ocean's fish processing operations, including harvested fish, packaging material, and other supplies. The PM is also responsible for collecting, analyzing, and sharing key management information about inventories and production outputs. The PM reports to the Director of Processing and works closely with members of the processing department as well as sales, accounting, and offshore teams.


Duties, Responsibilities, & Requisites

Production & Projects

  • Develop and manage short- and long-term production plans to meet sales demand.
  • Coordinate with sales and offshore teams on harvest activities.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of fish, packaging, and materials throughout all facilities.
  • Monitor packaging inventory, coordinate with purchasing, minimize loss, and support cost analysis.
  • Ensure accurate data collection and reporting on processing metrics such as yield, weights, and packaging use.
  • Contribute to budgets and performance reports, including yield and cost analyses.
  • Collaborate with IT and contractors to plan and implement systems that support processing needs.
  • Support special orders, departmental projects, and software/hardware initiatives.
  • Oversee facility maintenance to ensure safe, clean, and compliant production environments.

Compliance

  • Maintain the highest level of food safety, ensuring compliance with all local, regional, national and international regulations.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of industry certifications, including ASC and BAP.
  • Manage company compliance with permit and regulatory requirements related to processing.

Team

  • Manage a processing team of 10 to 15 people in alignment with the established SOPs for facility organization, receiving, grading, cutting, packing, freezing, and sanitizing.
  • Oversee and support Facilities Technician.
  • Provide successful leadership and positive team member relations through effective planning, communication, coaching, training, and development.
  • Ensure the team meets production & delivery performance objectives through planning, training, scheduling, and task assignments.
  • Ensure SOPs are developed, maintained, and utilized.
  • Develop and maintain a high performing team through hiring, training, conflict resolution, and other team member relations activities.
  • Consistently comply with and enforce Company policies and procedures, including safety and biosecurity protocols.
  • Promote a culture of safety, integrity, and excellence.

  • Adaptable to dynamic work environments.
  • Able to sit at a computer for extended periods and lift up to 20 pounds regularly.
