Job description

While candidates in the listed location(s) are encouraged for this role, candidates in other locations will be considered.
Overview:
Databricks is seeking a Director of Operations and Strategy of FP&A to fundamentally re-imagine and evolve how our global Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) organization operates. Reporting directly to the Head of Finance Data, AI, and Strategy, this leader will serve as a strategic right-hand to FP&A leadership and interface directly with the CFO, the Head of Sales, and other executive stakeholders.
This is not a traditional operations role; we are looking for a high-caliber strategist with a fresh perspective who can design the future state of FP&A and personally drive the execution to get us there. You will lead massive, cross-functional programs that embed Data, AI, and modern ways of working into our core financial processes. Crucially, you will champion "Databricks on Databricks"-leveraging our own unified data intelligence platform to eliminate friction, automate workflows, and deliver predictive insights that accelerate our growth.
If you possess a blend of elite strategic thinking (e.g., top-tier management consulting) and a proven track record of in-house corporate transformation, this role offers a massive platform for impact.
The Impact You Will Have
  • Strategic Advisor & Design Partner: Serve as a key sounding board and right-hand to senior FP&A leadership to design organizational strategies, optimize corporate ways of working, and align financial planning with company-wide growth goals.
  • Transform FP&A with Databricks: Lead the charge in changing how FP&A operates by embedding the Databricks platform, AI, and machine learning into core finance workflows-moving the team from descriptive reporting to scalable automation and predictive analytics.
  • Drive High-Stakes, Cross-Functional Execution: Design and execute against complex, large-scale initiatives across Finance, IT, Engineering, Product, and Go-to-Market (GTM).
  • Executive Visibility & Communication: Own the narrative. Run FP&A leadership forums, orchestrate the OKR and Quarterly Business Review (QBR) processes, and deliver high-impact executive communications to the CFO, Head of Sales, and other top-level leaders.
  • Commercialization & Scale: Provide a strategic lens on commercialization and scale, ensuring financial processes seamlessly support evolving product strategies, pricing models, and GTM motions.
What We Look For
  • Experience: 12+ years of progressive experience, ideally combining elite management consulting with in-house leadership roles within high-growth corporate FP&A or Business Operations functions.
  • Strategic FP&A Expertise: Deep, foundational knowledge of FP&A architecture, combined with a distinct bias toward strategy and business transformation rather than purely routine operations.
  • Transformation Catalyst: Proven success leading large-scale corporate transformations, re-architecting legacy workflows, and successfully managing the organizational change that comes with new technologies.
  • Data & AI Tech Fluency: Experience implementing or managing AI, machine learning, or advanced automation tools within a finance org. Familiarity with SQL, Python, or data analytics platforms is highly desirable; a passion for leveraging the Databricks platform to solve financial complexity is required.
  • Elite Executive Presence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills (expert-level Google Slides). Ability to command a room, influence senior executives, and distill complex financial transformations into clear, actionable strategies.
  • Industry Context: Experience in the SaaS or high-tech enterprise software landscape. Exposure to corporate commercialization, pricing strategies, or product-led growth metrics is a strong plus.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a highly analytical field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
