The Senior Data Engineer plays a critical role within the Business Intelligence team, designing, building, and maintaining scalable data architecture and data integration solutions that support clinical, operational, and strategic initiatives across Terros Health.
This role is responsible for developing and optimizing enterprise data pipelines and data warehouse structures, ensuring high data quality, integrity, and accessibility. The Senior Data Engineer partners closely with business leaders, analysts, and IT teams to translate complex business needs into sustainable data solutions that drive informed decision-making and improved patient outcomes.

  • Leads the design of and develops and maintains scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from internal and external systems.
  • Builds and optimizes Enterprise Data Warehouse structures to support analytics, reporting, and operational workflows.
  • Implements and maintains data models (dimensional and relational) to ensure efficient and accurate reporting.
  • Evaluates and recommends improvements to data architecture, storage, and processing performance.
  • Establishes and enforces data quality standards, validation processes, and monitoring to ensure data integrity and reliability.
  • Leads development of data governance practices, including data definitions, metadata management, and data lineage documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with healthcare data standards and regulations related to security and privacy.

  • Collaborates with clinical and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely data exchange across systems.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience); master's degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in data engineering, data architecture, or related field.
  • Advanced SQL development skills, including stored procedures, performance tuning, and query optimization
  • Experience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines and enterprise data warehouse environments
  • Experience working with structured and semi-structured data formats (JSON, XML, CSV
  • Experience integrating data via APIs, SFTP, and healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR)
  • Strong understanding of data modeling concepts (dimensional, relational, star/snowflake schemas)
  • Experience with performance tuning and database optimization
  • Experience working with healthcare or behavioral health data strongly preferred
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver's license, be 21 years of age with a minimum of 3 years driving experience, and meet requirements of Terros Health's driving policy
