Role Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the finance function of IMI’s Life Science manufacturing operations in Palmer, Massachusetts, and Pipersville, Pennsylvania. Based onsite in Palmer, you will be a key member of the site leadership team and a strategic business partner to the General Manager, with a dotted-line relationship to the Global Finance Director, Life Science.

You will combine strategic insight with hands‑on financial leadership to improve business performance, strengthen decision‑making and support sustainable growth.

Work Environment: Onsite in Palmer, Massachusetts, with periodic travel to the Pipersville, Pennsylvania operation and other IMI locations as business needs require.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Strategy and Planning: Lead the annual budget, quarterly forecasting, long-range planning and monthly business performance review processes across the Palmer and Pipersville operations.
  • Business Performance and Insight: Provide clear analysis of revenue, profit, gross margin, cash and operational performance, identifying risks, opportunities and corrective actions.
  • Manufacturing Finance: Lead financial oversight of standard costing, inventory, work in process, labor and material variances, productivity, purchase price variance, overhead absorption and scrap.
  • Business Partnership and Decision Support: Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality and Commercial leadership to evaluate performance, challenge assumptions and support pricing, sourcing, capacity and growth decisions.
  • Financial Reporting and Control: Ensure accurate and timely financial close, reporting, balance sheet management and compliance with IMI accounting policies, IFRS, group reporting requirements and Delegation of Authority.
  • Cash and Working Capital: Improve cash generation through disciplined management of inventory, receivables, payables, capital expenditure and other working capital drivers.
  • Investment and Business Cases: Provide financial leadership for capital investment, automation, new product development and operational improvement proposals, including return-on-investment and post-investment reviews.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead, coach and develop the finance and accounting team, building capability, accountability, succession and strong business‑partnering skills.
  • Systems and Continuous Improvement: Lead improvements in financial systems, reporting, data quality and processes, including effective use of ERP software and the standardization and simplification of finance activities.

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA or equivalent advanced qualification preferred.
  • At least 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including significant hands‑on manufacturing finance experience.
  • Proven experience leading a site, plant, business unit or comparable operational finance function.
  • Strong knowledge of financial planning, forecasting, P&L management, cost accounting, inventory, working capital and internal controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate financial and operational data into clear recommendations and measurable business improvements.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to influence and constructively challenge senior and cross‑functional leaders.
  • Proven people leadership, coaching and team‑development capability.
  • Strong executive communication, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience in a multi‑site, global or matrixed organization.
  • Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems.
  • Experience in life sciences, medical devices, analytical instrumentation or another regulated manufacturing environment is valued.

Pay range: $160,000 - $190,000

Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.

Bonus eligibility: This position is also eligible for a variable incentive pay component, separate from base salary.
