Job description

Director, Engineering

Application Deadline: 4 September 2026

Department: Engineering

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Saskatoon Office

Reporting To: Project Director

This is a unique opportunity to join Paladin Energy at a defining stage in the development of the Patterson Lake South (PLS) Project, one of Canada's most significant emerging uranium projects. As Director, Engineering, you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping and delivering the engineering strategy that will support the project's transition from development through construction, commissioning, and ultimately into production, which is targeted for 2031.

Reporting directly to the Project Director, you will be a key member of the project's leadership team, responsible for building and leading a high-performing engineering organization while influencing critical decisions that will define the future success of the operation.

This role offers the rare chance to lead the engineering function through the full project lifecycle of a world-class mining development. You will work alongside experienced industry professionals, engage with Indigenous communities and key stakeholders, and contribute to the establishment of a safe, sustainable, and technically robust operation that will create long-term value for Saskatchewan, local communities, and shareholders.

For an accomplished engineering leader, this position provides the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy by helping transform a major resource project into a producing mine while building engineering capability, driving innovation, and supporting Paladin's growth as one of the leading global uranium producers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the engineering strategy aligned with project objectives, corporate priorities, and business goals.
  • Lead and oversee engineering activities across all project phases, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and transition to operations.
  • Establish engineering standards, governance frameworks, processes, and performance expectations to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.
  • Provide leadership and direction to multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, consultants, and EPCM partners.
  • Ensure engineering designs, specifications, and technical decisions comply with applicable legislation, regulations, industry standards, and company requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and manage engineering risks, opportunities, constraints, and interdependencies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring engineering solutions support safe construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of project facilities.
  • Manage engineering budgets, resource planning, and external technical service providers to support cost-effective project execution.
  • Support regulatory approvals and stakeholder commitments through the delivery of engineering requirements and technical information.
  • Provide engineering leadership during commissioning, startup, and operational readiness to support successful project handover.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, technical excellence, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Monitor engineering performance and provide regular reporting to senior leadership on progress, risks, costs, and key project metrics.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive engineering experience within mining, resource development, energy, industrial, or major capital project environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams on large-scale capital projects through feasibility, detailed design, construction, commissioning, and operational readiness phases.
  • Proven experience managing engineering consultants, EPCM contractors, and external technical service providers.
  • Experience working within highly regulated environments and interfacing with regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting project development in northern, remote, or Indigenous engagement environments is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines, including process, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural engineering.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities.
  • Comprehensive understanding of project delivery methodologies, engineering governance, risk management, quality assurance, and commissioning processes.
Benefits
  • Competitive remuneration and annual incentive program
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health and dental coverage, a Health Spending Account (HSA), and RRSP matching
  • Career development opportunities within a growing, global company
  • A supportive, inclusive, and safety-focused workplace culture
  • Opportunity to contribute to the development of a major Saskatchewan uranium project
  • Exposure to multiple phases of project development, including engineering, construction, commissioning, and future operations
