Job description

As an Applied R&D Engineer 4 - SW, you will play a crucial role in our TAO BLSR Space Communication Solutions department. Your primary focus will be on the Physical Layer (PHY) development for 5G NR gNB, ensuring compliance with 3GPP specifications. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the advancement of 5G network performance.
Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize the PHY layer for 5G NR gNB, adhering to 3GPP standards.
  • Implement and optimize PHY algorithms, including channel estimation, equalization, beamforming, MIMO, and decoding techniques.
  • Work on DSP/FPGA/GPU implementations for real-time signal processing, ensuring efficient and reliable performance.
  • Develop and optimize the L1-L2 interface for high-performance data processing, enhancing overall system efficiency.
  • Collaborate with system engineers to analyze PHY layer performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Conduct thorough unit and integration testing, debugging, and performance tuning of PHY software and firmware.
  • Optimize PHY layer for latency, throughput, and power efficiency, balancing performance and resource utilization.
  • Integrate PHY with RF front-end components, ensuring seamless communication and optimal system performance.
  • Stay updated with 3GPP releases and implement necessary changes in PHY processing to maintain compliance.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Qualifications
  • 2-3 years of hands-on experience in 5G NR/LTE PHY Layer development, demonstrating a strong understanding of OFDM, MIMO, and other key PHY concepts.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, MATLAB, and Python for algorithm development and simulation, ensuring efficient and reliable code implementation.
  • Experience with DSPs, FPGAs, or GPUs for real-time PHY processing, optimizing signal processing and system performance.
  • Solid knowledge of 3GPP specifications, particularly 38.211, 38.212, 38.213, and 38.214, ensuring compliance and effective implementation.
  • Familiarity with software-defined radio (SDR) and real-time embedded systems, enabling efficient development and testing.
  • Experience in debugging and performance tuning of PHY layer implementations, ensuring robust and optimized system performance.
  • Knowledge of signal processing libraries like FFTW is preferred, enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of signal processing tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Experience in 5G PHY testing and validation using industry-leading tools is an advantage, ensuring accurate and reliable testing.
  • A B.E/B.Tech or M.E/M.Tech degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field, providing a strong technical foundation.
