Job description

About the Partnership
TRC Talent has partnered with a global leader in rugged computing and defense hardware to find a highly specialized Embedded Systems Architect. At TRC, we pride ourselves on connecting top-tier technical talent with mission-critical roles. We are managing the initial phases of this search to ensure our candidates get direct visibility with the hiring team, bypassing the standard application black hole.

The Role
You will be joining a global manufacturer of mission-critical hardware that powers the aerospace and defense sectors. They are the team behind the scenes building the infrastructure for the most advanced military technology in the world. As a recent example, their engineering team designed and built the massive Level 4 computing chassis that house communication devices inside Navy submarines (electric boats). They offer an incredibly lucrative performance structure; their quarterly paid bonus targets 25% based on revenue generation, and last year, the team exceeded 100% of their payout target. This is not a behind-the-scenes engineering role. You will serve as the crucial bridge between elite hardware engineering and the sales team. Working directly on Level 4 system integrations, you will join customer calls to translate complex product nuances into clear, concise, and efficient technical solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary technical subject matter expert in a fast-paced sales environment, guiding customers through the capabilities of ruggedized embedded hardware.

Architect and define open standards-based computing systems (focusing on L4 integrations) to meet rigorous customer requirements.

Partner directly with the sales team to build relationships, overcome technical objections, and drive revenue generation.

Travel up to 20% for customer site visits and high-level technical meetings, including an annual 3-day strategic sales summit in Fremont, CA (typically Feb/March).

What You Bring to the Table

Hardware Expertise (Required): Strong background in hardware engineering. (Note: Pure software engineering backgrounds will not be a fit for this specific physical hardware environment).

Open Standards: Hands-on experience with at least one of the following: VPX (Highly Preferred), VME, or SOSA. (Experience with CompactPCI is also a strong plus).

Customer-Facing Polish: Exceptional communication skills with a "sales approach." You must be comfortable explaining highly technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Compliance: Due to the nature of the work and government NDAs, candidates must meet ITAR compliance requirements.
